Topic: Weird problem with my original Xbox

I have an OG fat xbox that does this weird screen flickering glitching thing where the image continuously overlaps. It happens no matter what game I'm trying to play but strangely appears to clear up the longer the xbox has been running. After a good 20 to 30 minutes it goes back to being fine.

I thought maybe a bad clock capacitor but i opened it up and saw no leakage or anything looking out of the ordinary. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Don't know if it matters but i had it connected to a 4K TV.

@Truegamer79 If it clears up after longer play sessions its probably one or more of the video capacitors that are on the way out, I believe there are three you can replace from my memory.

OG Xbox's are at the age now where re-capping is pretty much required now.

Yeah i thought that's probably it. At some point I'm gonna attempt a recap. Never tried that before but i found some guides on YouTube that may help me. Thanks.

@Truegamer79 To be honest the OG Xbox from memory was quite nice to work on, not like some of the more modern stuff, just make sure you clone your HDD just so you have a backup of the data. I think you can order OG Xbox replacement caps on ebay for quite cheap.

My XBOX has a disc drive that sticks every now n then. Sometimes it rejects reading a used game thinking it's a dvd and i have to bring it back for another used copy. That happened with Panzer Dragoon Orta. Also I bought a used copy of Shadow The Hedgehog that was all scuffed up, it plays all the way through to the end though. The only part that messes up is the opening when you turn on the game and some of the intro.
