Adventure Island - honestly, has anybody here actually finished this game? I have, but of course with the infinite lives cheat. Nobody can finish this NES-Nasty with just a few lives, it's impossible. Even with infinite Adventure Island's difficulty rivals anything on the NES that i've experienced!
Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient ship of Doom - NG2 was more forgiving than the original, but III basically spat Crystal Pepsi in your face and demanded you to eat your spinich! this game was just grueling, never have I mastered such kinetic ninja lightning fast Neo-Rad skills. To make things even more difficult is that you have limmited continues. I completely fluked out on the final boss! With only 1 trinket left of health, my heart was litterally blasting out of my he-man chest while i was sitting in a pile of INtense surfer swet!
Ghosts 'n Goblins - The last 2 stages were H-E-L-L. And no i never bothered beating the game twice to get the real ending
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -Toughest Catlevania there is period. You will without a doubt grow vamp fangs after mustering up the Belmont courage and taking down Drac's 3rd Castle of supreme SkelaNasties! Rondo was tough, but III takes the frankenCake in the entire franchise.
Battletoads - I'll admit, it's been quite a while since I've played it but i could never get past that iconic underground hoverboard stage. Nothing new here, as that was thee' stage that haunted many of our childhoods. I need to get this on Cart, so i can get my Bimmy & Jimmy revenge and beat the bits & Zits out of this stinky 'n gnarly TMNT-clone.
A nice list, glad to see that the salt water hasn’t quite gotten to your brain yet. I haven’t recently played Adventure Island but would like to give it another crack if it ever comes to Wii U VC. I was horrible at that game as a kid though the chubby island dude doing constant knee lifts always kept tempting me to give it another go. I beat Ghosts ‘n Goblins the first time on the Wii U VC and I may never go back to playing the 2nd time. The game is maddening and the stupid progress map after every death is ridiculous. Castlevania III is tough, I use the HELP ME code though I have the game saved somewhere on the Wii VC and have yet to beat it. I will probably pick it up again around Halloween which is right around the corner. The part in Battletoads that I hate is when you have to race the Mouse guy before he sets off the bomb. The speeder bike level is all memorization and is “easy” after the 1,000th attempt or so.
That game was painful, possibly one of my least favorite NES-experiences, right up there with Karate Kid. poor game design all around with Bart's BS stamp of approval to fool the kiddies into thinking that this game was going to be hotter than aunt patty and Selma! And who could forget Fester's Quest. The only thing going for it is the nutty soundtrack.
Bart vs. The Space Mutants was such a huge disappointment. Everybody I knew was looking forward to the Simpson game for the NES. I'm surprised Fester's Quest was so bad. Usually Sunsoft nails their NES games though I guess everyone is allowed a to make a game that is left to just Fester. All I can remember is wandering around with the poop gun and like all Sunsoft games, a decent soundtrack you said.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Ghosts n Goblins NES isn't too bad. You can duck without the game automatically adjusting to hit you and the bosses you don't have to hit the exact part.
The true game is the Arcade version.
It changes it completely because you can never stop and duck to get into position and have to be really good on the boss or you run out of time. (Even with a perfect run up to that point).
heres mine
1. ninja gaiden(cant beat it)
2. Zelda 2(manage to beat it on 3ds VC)
3. top gun(i suck at it)
4. Castlvania
5. Dr. Mario(i suck worse here than tetris)
I never completed any of the missions on Silent Service on NES. Probably not as hard as I remember but it always seemed like the AI cheated to sink me.
I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.
Ninja Gaiden: The last level was insane. The respawning hawks and bats were the worst. I do remember one respawn that infuriated me. It wasn't a hawk or bat, but one of those running ninjas (I think) It was on the snowy mountain level on the upper part of the screen and the ninja would bounce on by platforms that you needed to jump on. If you backed up briefly or jumped at the wrong time, you'd inevitably bounce off the guys head and down between the platforms.
TMNT: f%#&in' seaweed.
Golgo 13: I loved that game as a kid, but it was pretty tough. I never understod why your health would count down even when you weren't being attacked. You could jump super high and kick, but that made accurately hitting someone rather hard. Also, you couldn't crouch and shoot, but the enemy could. Hated that.
Xevious: This was also in the arcade. Your ship moved slow and after a short while playing, these stupid little black balls start flying everywhere.
