Topic: The Original 151 Pokemon...

I've noticed that in Pokemon Red/Green, the classic 151 looked.... REALLY UGLY.

I mean, look at Enkas' freaky lips, Raichu's fatness, Jolteon's freaky mouth, Voltorb's insane eyebrow, and Mew has a HUGE nose.
_{And don't even get me started on Golbat...}

Times certainly have changed. Chancey will give me nightmares...

also what animal is Lickitung?

The Yellow ones are nothing compared to the Red/Blue ones

my personal favorites are Disco Omystar, Huge Tounge Golbat, Giant Parascet, Backwards Tail Slowbro, Upside Down Koffin, and mirrored Kingler.

Oooohh.... That Chancey is even scarier.....

Lickitung is supposed to be some sort of lizard (hence the reptilian appearance and the long tongue).

Golbat still is the ugliest one.

Oh I also like Arm Pit Fart Machoke, Huge Excitecute, Cool Tenticruel, and Obese Blastoise.

I do like blastiose in blue.

Is it me or does Gengar look like Beano's Dennis the Menace? 0_o

One of Red/Blue's ugliest sprites has to be Exeggutor. And Koffing is upside-down.

I'll be honest, I much preferred how they looked in 1st gen. Not because of the quality etc thats obvious because the quality has clearly improved, I still like the new more 'realistic' sprites don't get me wrong but the 1st gen sprites had much more character (bear in mind this is all in my opinion).......Although its probably just nostalgia, either way I like the quirkyness of them.
I like how Eevee looks like an angry old man.

Actually the ones at the top of the page were from Pokemon Green, which was never released in the states. They used the graphics from the Japanese Blue (updated slightly) for our Red and Blue in America. Then Yellow came along and they started to look legit. Anybody want to post those?
