What do you guys think of this game?

This is a very popular Gamecube RPG that sold pretty well. However, I never played this game when I was in preschool, because the only RPGs I played were Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Many years later, I decided to play it because it's considered to be one of the best games on the Gamecube. I have only (maybe) 7 or 8 hours left of the game and I really love it. I actually like it more than Thousand-Year Door, which is a game that I love. My favorite character has to be Sheena, as she is very interesting and likable. I also love Lloyd (who is voiced by the same person who does Robin's voice on Teen Titans) and Raine. The battle system is very similar to Smash Bros and is very addicting. I also love the story, as it's very complex and interesting. The dungeons are also very fun to play through and I like the different spells you get in them. I also liked that they put skits in them. Overall, the game is a great game and I can't wait to play the last parts of the game.

Also, who is your favorite character?

@Gamecubefan15 Yeah, the Z-skits made this game. The battle system is only okay, but I feel like there's just so much character that it's hard to stop playing. Plus, it's unbelievable how many side quests are in a game that initially seems like it's going to be a straight ride to the end.

My favorite character is probably Regal. He gets all the good scenes AND is a master chef. Plus, it's funny to see him playing older brother to almost the entire cast.

One of my favourite games on the Gamecube and the only RPG I can remember to complete in every aspect, even with the optional bosses. By the way, there's a secret boss who's the hardest in the game if I remember correctly, just to let you know. To me this game is the perfect exaple of how RPGs should be made.

The sequel is actually my favorite Tales game. The focus on the two leads really helped the story IMO.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

I grabbed this as part of my recent Cube haul.... can't wait to get started on it.

My sister constantly nags me to play it... it actually makes me want to play it less and less

I got Abyss for the 3ds 2 years ago... that game is epic. It's like Symphonia, but with a less awkward battle system. Just make sure to get a sidequest guide. I had to print out 2 40 page copies of it for me and my sister. Took about 10-20 staples to bind each of them.

Yeah, I found out too late that Tales of the Abyss was one of "those" games, and I had missed about 75% of the side quests, which kind of killed my interest in it. I had the same experience with Persona on PSP. They're games where I want to enjoy to enjoy the story, but at the same time, the gameplay is also involving enough that I'd like to enjoy that at my own pace as well. But the only way I can do that is to play with a guide, because otherwise I will spend the entire game obsessing over every little thing I missed...

There aren't many games like this - I can usually accept the loss of some missable content here and there so long as I can still progress through the game. But these games have very good stories that rely heavily on the mystery they're building up. I'm not gonna have a great time the second time through, since the mystery has already been spoiled, so that first playthrough is the only one it'll ever get, and that makes me very sad to know I'll be missing out on a LOT of cool stuff because of that...

I haven't played Symphonia, but I really want to.

I've played Abyss (3DS) & Vesperia (360) and adore them both.

I've played Tales of Xillia, Graces, Eternia, Abyss, and Symphonia. Out of all the Tales games I've played Symphonia is my favourite. The battle system is kinda out dated but it's still a very fun game.

I've got it somewhere but still not played it beyond the first few hours. It was a fairly good start.

I loved Abyss on the 3DS though. This series has some very good moments with a lot of average ones.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.
