I don't know why, but this is the 3D Mario game I can always get into very quickly, and that's a tough act to follow considering Mario 64, Galaxy 1 &2, and 3D Land.
Current Playthroughs: Xenoblade Chronicles, Okami, Red Steel 2, Eternal Sonata, SMW 2: Yoshi's Island, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy IV, Phantasy Star IV, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and TLoZ: Spirit Tracks.

I really, really like sunshine! I am slowly playing through it right now. However, I understand not everyone has the same opinion of it and that's cool. I just want to know WHY people dislike it?

This game is a huge part of my childhood and besides that is just a great game. How can anyone not love Isle Delfino and all the tropical settings? I thought FLUDD was very unique and this game is just amazing overall.
It had the best 3d mario overworld of all time, OF ALL TIME I TELL YE! I loved the atmosphere of the game. The voice acting was very corny, and as far as actual platforming goes it wasn't nearly as overwhelming as SMG 1 or 2, but I really liked the settings, the music, the pianta's and dare I say I even enjoyed spraying water all over the place.

Exactly! I think that it rivals the Galaxy games as the most creative. I mean it brought very little from the old Mario mythology (besides characters) and yet still felt like a Mario game. It was so memorable.
I remember wanting to get Super Mario Sunshine when I first asked for my GameCube when I was 5. I got Luigi's Mansion with it instead, love that game so much. But now I finally get a chance to play the game that kept escaping from me. I had picked it up about a year ago and am finally getting back into it. I have 32 shine sprites. Loving it so far. Its just so much fun!
Honestly, I enjoyed Sunshine more than the two Galaxy games and would love for Nintendo to produce a sequel to it. I played it through to completion earlier this year (gathering all the blue coins was a great challenge), and once enough time passes, I'll be replaying it once more. It's too bad the game's reception wasn't that good, because it probably means Nintendo won't produce a sequel for it anytime soon, if at all...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
Very nice, the people who didn't want Sunshine and wanted something else eventually got Mario Galaxy. Looking back, Sunshine's a great twist to the genre of platforming. It's a shame it's underrated as it is though, similar to Luigi's Mansion when it first came out.
