I've been considering the acquisition of at least one of these small collections that Retro-bit releases for NES and SNES with classic games at a reasonable price, with box and some extras.
But I have my doubts. I know I can have those games easily and without paying one cent, but I guess they can release these collections because they have reached some sort of agreement with the copyright owners, so they're officially licensed, right? After all, they sell on Amazon.
Problem is I can't shake the feeling that what I'm receiving here is a repro cartridge.
What are your thoughts about these releases, people?
I assume you're talking about the "Multi Cartidges" ?
Well technically they are repro cartridge, but that doesn't mean it's illegal or bad.
For example, check the data east cartidge, you'll see "Copyright G-Mode Corporation".
A quick google search tells me that G-Mode is a company which bought some Data East assets + trademark when it filed for bankruptcy. So it's 100% legal.
@neufel Thanks for the link and your opinion. However I'm not worried about how they play. Why would they play different than the original cartridges? It's not emulation, is it? And if it is, it runs on the actual machine. It would be like Everdrive, that runs the games as they originally ran.
@Moroboshi876 You're right, but there's always small things like bad menus or changes in the game because of copyrighted stuff. That doesn't look like it here though
