I played PD the other day with my friend on my N64. Despite my controllers being in need of repair, we had a really good laugh in the combat simulator. Loaded up an old preset and everything just came back to me like reflex. After playing it we checked out all the other modes and man was it loaded with game modes. Such a great game like this needs to be re released on a Nintendo console Regardless of how annoying Elvis is!!

Does anybody else still play this game and also there were some challenges that i never completed. Did anybody complete all the challenges? Notably the king of the hill with expert simulants level.

Pretty sure Microsoft owns the IP now. They would have acquired it with the purchase of Rare.

I love the AI settings for the bots in multiplayer though. That was way ahead of its time. You still don't see that much in modern shooter games.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

The technology in that game was really impressive. It was probably the best looking game of his generation on consoles. I replay the game regularly on 360 now. Still an awesome FPS with great Blade Runner atmosphere and typical Rare humor. Big challenge too. And the amount of different options and weapons for the multiplayer hasn't been topped yet. These guys at Rare were really stakhanovists. I wonder what are these guys doing now. They probably don't work in the videogames industry anymore.

Most of the Goldeneye/Perfect Dark staff left to form Free Radical, and created the Timesplitters series. They later became Crytek UK and helped out on Crysis 3, before again being reformed as Dambuster studios and are working on Homefront: The Revolution.

I had no idea it was on XBLA. I knew there was a PD game but i didnt know about the N64 game being on there. I think that the game really was ahead of its time. The combat simulator was great fun.

@Cloudrunner64 Yeah, MS released some RARE games on XBLA, including Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie/Tooie

RARE also made Perfect Dark Zero for Xbox 360, not exactly a great game, but is alright for some fun with friends, the online servers are probably shut down now I imagine. But it has 4 player split-screen, as well as LAN (Including multiple players per console in network games), and supports AI players in both local and network matches.

But I have to agree with others on here, the control scheme it shares with Goldeneye is kinda horrible to use, and the framerate on an N64 can get bad, easier to play on an emulator where the framerate is smooth. I imagine at the time it was a pretty great game to have though.

I never made it past the last level. That is all I can say. I was like an couple of feet from the queens temple and blew it. So crazy on perfect agent.

I know Perfect Dark is great. It is truly great, masterpiece. Personally I would do it all over again.

One thing I love about the game is the use to two controllers at one time. Rareware made the N64 look like gods gaming system. Never again will we see it be that awesom-o.

Crazy game, and madness fun.

everyone needs to relax and enjoy the games that are released today and stop worrying what Nintendo will do in a year or two from now.

Like most non-EA releases on the 360, PDZ is P2P based. Player's host their own matches, rather than dedicated server infrastructure having to be in place to host games for that particular title.

So as long as Xbox Live is up to handle standardized functions like matchmaking, it will remain working.

People are still playing it, and have recently received a boost with the addition of XB1 backwards compatibility attracting additional attention. It's one of the bigger releases that's currently supported for preview members. And its inclusion on Rare Replay should also help keep it populated with a few people for a while yet.
