Paper Mario was my most anticipated game since first announced in 1996 as Super Mario RPG 2. Although the game for the most part lived up to my expectations I was disappointed it isn’t a sequel to Super Mario RPG as the working title implied. I was hoping for a 3D 64 bit RPG experience with Mallow, Geno and gang. The only Paper Mario game I haven’t finished is Origami King. I plan to start a new file and play through the whole game soon.

@damien33ad
If you never played it you are in for a treat. However, the experience might not be the same as playing it back in 1996 as a 13 year old experiencing the first Mario RPG game released. It has lots of memorable characters and an awesome soundtrack.

I’ve been playing The Oragami King recently and it’s been surprisingly great so far. It’s not perfect and I can see how people who were hoping for something more like the first two games might be disappointed, but there are a lot of great elements there.
I never hated Sticker Star despite its flaws and The Oragami King is a definite improvement in a lot of ways. Now I just need to get around to Color Splash sometime to complete the series.

Going to fire up sticker star soon. Either that or superstar saga. Nonetheless it'll be a mario rpg

@Eel
Sticker Star has a lot of "Summon Things", like GF/ Eidolon on final Fantasy.
For example, there are 3 different kinds of battery.
Watch battery was like Thunder, Battery was like Thundara and Accu battery was like Thundaga. On Color Splash, Battery was like Zeus / Ramuh with its "Judegement Bolt" LOL

Nice. Good to know its playable and a good time. I'll give that a spin when I Beat AoC until BDII comes out

@Anti-Matter Origami King has at least one reference to the big realistic items. One appears and makes it possible to access new areas.

But you can't really use them yourself in this one.

I put in about an hour and a half of sticker star. Completed world 1-1 & 1-2. It's definitely different how you go through levels like you would a typical mario 2d game. But really cool that they changed it up a bit.

The sticker thing is a cool touch but gives me anxiety. I'm worried I'll run out in a battle at some point. @Eel what did you do in that instance? Just forfeit?

@NintendoByNature
Sticker Star = FF VIII Magic system.
Keep stocking a lot of Stickers and also the Things sticker for beating specific Bosses.
You can buy the stickers from Toad at Decalburg or other places, peeling from other worlds, etc.
Things Stickers are my favorite things.
They looks like Final Fantasy Magic spell with 3 differebt levels (for example Trumpet = Noise, Violin = Noisera, Electric Guitar = Noisega) or much like Summon Magic (Scissors are basicaly Odin in 4 levels)

@eel so you have or you haven't played sticker star? Lol.

Anti-matter cool thanks. Appreciate the feedback. I guess I'm more concerned what happens IF you run out of stickers during a battle

Heyo, new user here. I've been lurking this site for a decently long time, thought I may as well sign up and foster discussion every once in a while. That aside --

This game showers players with stickers; there's stickers to be found almost everywhere in the levels, enemies drop stickers, re-entering levels respawns all stickers found inside of them for free... Not just that, but players also tend to stockpile on so many coins over time, with the main usage being buying more stickers, that ever running out is hardly even possible, and something you should not be worrying about. Do not enter a brand new level if your album is close to empty (refill at any shop) and you'll be good for the whole game.

The only time you may risk running out is at the boss battles, if you do not know what you are doing. It has actually happened to me once; the game started dropping basic jump/hammer stickers from the sky to keep me furnished once I got close to running out. It may happen that you're forced to skip a turn if you end up with zero and eat damage, but you'll almost always get a weak freebie per turn.

@NintendoByNature The reassuring thing, at least when playing World One, in Sticker Star, is that there's not much penalty if you lose a battle - the levels aren't very big, and the game saves every time you enter the World map, plus there's a fair amount of save points and Hearts dotted around the levels. The biggest loss is if you spend a lot of stickers in a battle, only to still lose - I think I may have quit the game and reloaded once or twice to avoid losing all those stickers before it saves.

After playing it for a few hours straight I found I was accruing money and stickers all the time, so if I needed to go and buy some Toad stickers (regenerate health) or stock up on better battle stickers, it didn't feel like a big loss, and it doesn't take long to nip out of a world to pop to the sticker shop and return. Plus I like the music that plays at Decalburg, so never mind popping back there.
I just can't remember if you have to get to a certain point in the game before the sticker shop is available to you. Is the house to the left of the fountain at Decalburg locked or can you enter?

Edit: And yeah, as Testudo says above, if you are desperate for stickers you can spam going in and out of a level and all the goodies respawn.

Edit 2: I got stuck in the first 'castle' level. I was trying to use the stickers and things I had logically but wasn't progressing past a certain point. I resorted to looking up what I needed to do and found the solution to be a bit less logical personally.

@TestudoVilis welcome! Glad to see you're joining. Most of us are pretty decent folks. Thank you very much for the feedback. Very helpful.
@gcunit all good stuff from you as well so thank you. So far(obviously early on), but I really can't see the crap SS gets honestly. Reminds me of a mix of origami king and the original. Having some good fun so far.

I first played super paper Mario and thought that the gameplay was good, soundtrack was good, and story was absolutely fantastic. I played Color splash and couldn't bring myself to completely beat it, I felt the card mechanism was out of place., and most mechanics were more annoying then helpful. I have not played TTYD because the price online is insanely high, but its at the top of my "I really need to play this game before I die" list.
