I wish they'll sell it with the dogbone controllers instead. I know the original controller design is iconic, but the remodels were so much more comfortable. It's one of my all-time favorite controller designs to this day.
Just when you thought Nintendo must have been somewhat amazed by the phenomenal success of Pokemon GO themselves, they're throwing out the next bomb! Totally out of the blue! And what an amazing offer! Console, controller, 30 games, for $60! For 30 NES Virtual Console titles, you'd pay $150! This is amazing, I've immediately preordered mine.
What's even more interesting though is the "Nintendo Classic Mini" label. Sounds to me like this will become a series, with SNES mini, N64 mini, etc. to follow. If this is going to happen, I'll apologize for my year-long (though totally justified) complaining about their poopy Virtual Console (I'd buy them all). Sure, having all games on one console would be convenient, but if you can buy the games with the actual consoles and save a lot of money with it, that is a deal.
Check out my big NX concept on http://ntdojoe.wordpress.com.
Concept includes Nintendo Portable, Nintendo Ultimate, NintendOS, Miitopia, RePlay, N Cam and more.
The pre-order offers/prices are:
-Nintendo Classic Mini + NES Controller Keychain, £49.99.
-Nintendo Classic Mini + 8-Bit Mario Soft Toy, £49.99.
-Nintendo Classic Mini + NES Controller Messenger Bag, £59.99.
-Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller, £7.99.
The pre-order offer items can be purchased separately:
-NES Controller Messenger Bag, £22.99.
-8-Bit Mario Soft Toy, £10.99.
-NES Controller Keychain, £4.99.
It's one item per customer so hopefully the scalpers will be kept at bay...
IGN have posted a video showcasing the NES, and the controller cable is worryingly short. May have to invest in a lengthy HDMI cable if you plan on playing far away from the TV.
@Stryker89
The trailer says it is still under production, so I cross my fingers that the short cable is only for the prototype and not for the final unit. If not, well, I'll have to buy a long HDMI as you say because there is no way I'm playing so close to the TV.
Psshhh. Complaining about short controller cords ... i play my NES games sitting indian-style on the floor in front of the tv, like a proper OG boss.
cant get me to play any other way.
this is why bald people rule the world.

While there is a part of me that really wants this thing, the more sane part of me realizes I am not the target audience of it. I already have a good portion of the games, I own a Wii U, and I am hopelessly addicted to off-TV play. As others have stated, I would have been more interested had I been able to purchase more NES games or if they managed to get some of the true classics on there like TMNT II: The Arcade Game, Ducktales, Dragon Warrior I-IV, Contra, Bionic Commando, River City Ransom, and many others.
Heck, had they just managed to get the Dragon Quest/Warrior games on Virtual Console I would be happy.
