pokemon rules, I got two copies of Yellow version and a now defunct pokemon Gold, which brings me to the point, if you find pokemon Gold Silver or Crystal, MAKE SURE THEY WORK, a lot of them have had the internal save battery die due to constant drain from the in game clock, the games will run, but saves will last only seconds to a few minutes after you turn off the system
This happened to me when I bought Pokemon Emerald online. I spent so many hours progressing, only to find everything gone when I returned to the game. Needless to say, I was friggin upset.
Same thing here, but with Silver. Can't be bothered to replace batteries, it's almost easier to just buy a new one since your data is already gone anyway D:

Buying a new copy means buying an used one with a junky battery lasting a short time all over again and being unpredictable when the data gets deleted. I would replace the battery that is better in the long run, but only if investing in hundreds of hours on it especially if you're competitive. If you're only doing the story, I won't bother with a new battery.

One of my friends gb 2nd gen pokemon games died, years later he found it working again, the battery must have gotten recharged a bit after not being used for a while.
As for emerald are you sure it's not just the clock because it's died on my ruby and sapphire versions but I can still play I just can't do clock events
I'm pretty sure what you're describing is not the battery dying but the infamous 'berry glitch'
Oops. >.> I was gonna delete them right now, then I realized you said thanks three times, then you'd look kinda funny, so I'll just let them sit there.
Gold/Silver have to be a must if you like Pokemon. I suggest Yellow as well, though I could never get into it. (I started with Crystal.) Tetris, obviously, and LoZ: LA DX if you're into Zelda. I recommend Metroid II, as you seem to be interested in that. The Donkey Kong Land games are great if you like Donkey Kong Country, as 2 and 3 are basically 8-bit remakes of their DKC counterparts. DKL1 is a completely different game if I recall, and that should be a definite buy.
Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.
I'd suggest some of the Mega Man titles for the GB. I didn't play many GB games growing up, but I always really enjoyed those. Great music and gameplay for an 8-bit handheld. Mega Man II would be a good place to start.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - If you want one of the best GBC games of all time. If you're on the fence about pokemon, get this. It's Pokemon to a degree, but done much better.
I just restarted a 'lost' collection a few weeks ago and have been steadily grabbing stuff, fast at first, slower now. Around a decade ago I got into selling off like nearly a dozen systems and at least a 1000 games I'd guess due to money problems/unemployment that usual hateful stuff. I found recently that the market on GB stuff (95+% of it) if you stay cart only had the bottom fall out and you can get most for $1-5. Due to this I picked up a Graphite AGB-101 GBA SP due to the screen/clam shell and while i have a few GBA games 've been going after GB and GBC stuff mostly.
This is where I'm at currently other than the last night ebay pickup for $10 shipped of Super Dodgeball for Gameboy original (JP title import.) http://tanooki.batcave.net/gameboy.html
My advice is three fold — NintendoAge buy/sell/trade board, ebay, and flea markets — avoid overpriced ebay and anything craigslist(scammers and high priced funk there only now and if not a reseller has it queued to their lame iphone.)
I got the GBA with 3 games for $50 shipped, all the games even the complete in box stuff was only $5/ea for most, a few less, a few up to $10 but that's it (not including shipping.) Mixing it up and being patient is how to do it.

Thanks for all the great ideas guys. You have all been helpful and please continue to post your ideas and recommendations. Games I have bough since starting this thread include Wario Land 2, which is a really interesting game. Also Wario Blast, which is great fun to play and managed to pick up for about 50 pence, is amazing. Yoshis Cookie is due to be delivered, along with Pokemon Blue, Kirbys Dream Land and Dr. Mario. Also got a Gameboy Pocket for Christmas, which I play alot. It literally has no scratches on the screen or casing, which I was amazed at. I love all of these games and I hope the others arrive soon.
Add one new game to my collection, Game and Watch Gallery 2. It is a very fun game, maybe just a bit better than the first one.
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...
I feel like I should say that GB and GBC games are very easy to have a battery replacement. I've done it several times with Pokemon games. Very little risk as well.
Best thread ever
