Speaking about Retro, the only Retro games I still like until today are PS2 and some PS1 games. PS2 are my best investment for DDR and other BEMANI games (Para Para Paradise, Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, Drummania, Keyboardmania, Martial Beat PS1).
I grew up by PS1 games when I was 14 years old so games like DDR, Bishi Bashi, Punky Skunk, Pepsiman, FF VIII, FF IX, FF Tactics, Magical Drop III, Chocobo Racing, etc are my teenhood games.
And this is why I can't discuss anything retro here anymore. The moment anyone says retro you get the GameCube Goobers discussing PS2, GameCube, Wii everything that isn't retro like it's some sort of general game thread. While my discussions about NES, SNES,.Gensesis,, true retro consoles go unanswered. It's quite clear Nintendo Life isn't the place to be anymore.

I'm sad to say it but I think the people who grew up with NES, Genesis, SNES and the lot have grown up in life and now their kids who grew up with GameCube and PS2 are taking their place. It really pains me to have said that but it's got a bit of truth in it.
Not saying those people aren't around anymore just they're probably living life and don't chat much anymore.

I think people don’t realize how old some of these consoles are. My theory is that people establish what they feel is considered retro based on what they grew up playing. ( not all the time but the majority of the time.) I consider the GameCube/ps2 era to be the cut off for retro games, but I can see why some would consider the Wii retro, based on nostalgia.
Now anyone who considers the Wii U and 3ds to be retro are just crazy. ( there are few, but I have seen them out there)
Currently playing: Pokemon Soul Silver, Mario RPG

I've spent the last 10 years building a nice collection, trying to tell myself I wasn't addicted to buying games. As proof of that conviction, I've always drawn the line at starting a NES/Mega Drive/SNES collection - just too much work and money to get a worthwhile collection in nice condition, for generations of games that don't hold that much personal connection for me. So I settled for just getting the mini versions etc.
This week I nearly bought a SNES, outbid by one person. A lucky escape.
I need to start getting more retro games. The gamecube is really the only system I have at the moment but i can still get games and play them on emulators. At least until I have a job and can afford to buy older consoles. I’m going to start with gamecube and gameboy/ gameboy advance games.
I've always loved retro games, and in a lot of ways, I prefer the classics over modern games. The SNES is home to many of my favorite games of all time, and it helps that I have a lot of nostalgia for that console too. I was literally born one year after the SNES came out here in the US, after all, and it's why I'm into Nintendo and Mario today. I also like the other old-school Nintendo systems, and I even like a lot of games for the Genesis/Mega Drive. I also have a few TurboGrafx-16 games from the Wii/Wii U VC (Blazing Lazers is such a good game), and I'd like to get more of them at some point soon.
