I just remembered (thanks to bro) that A Dragon's Tale: Bruce Lee Story, was the hardest game I have ever played.
I ALMOST beat it as the Demon was on a glitter of life and somehow, it took all of my life and I died. Screw that game!
The second battle requires fighting two guys! The 4th requires beating someone in 60 seconds AND the guy he fights for a film take throws Ice Blioks at you...then finally...the demon awaits (you also face him to gain your lives back as a second chance...but it is unfairly hard...
No I never did beat it I rented it a few times during the SNES era. I even tried the two player story mode with my brother and we still couldnt beat it.

Demon's Souls. Frustrating, terrible, and to date the only game I've ever actually sold. Absolutely obtuse difficulty centered around horrid, devoid-of-fun gameplay mechanics.
There were a few Oath in Felghana bosses on Nightmare that were massive sticking points.... Gyalava, Istersiva, and Gildias all come to mind. Almost broke the PSP I was playing the game on several times fighting Istersiva...just could not get the hang of that battle
Oh forgot about Gothic 3. That game's encounters are so insanely brutal...luckily you can save anywhere..but yeah--that game was hard.

The game pits you against each other so you have no hope in hell.
Isn't Demon's Souls hard at the beginning but gets easier as you go along?
i have to admit i had some of THOSE MOMENTS playing wind waker when i was younger. im glad i got 2/3 of the sage temples out of the way
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
Surprisingly enough there aren't many games that give me personal pains. I guess I just have a special gift for simply tolerating games instead of hating them with a passion even when I should.

Monster Hunter Tri. I know it's one of the best games on Wii and it's my favorite, but defeating the Great Jaggi at my level is insanely difficult, I still haven't done it. One time the Great Jaggi was barely able to walk, i've stunned it and broken the frill, i'm just about to deliver my final crag bomb when a Jaggia bit me from behind, killing me and making me get a QUEST FAILED. I screamed into a pillow for 5 minutes after that.
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition and Pilotwings Resort.
Pilotwings Resort - Those dang hangglider missions in are IMPOSSIBLE to get 3 stars in. SSFIV3DE - Seth. I hate that fighter so much. He beats the stuffing outa me when i'm in Arcade mode. Yeah, I'm new to SSF games.
Mario Strikers Charged Football wasnt the only game that made me very angry but its probably the only game that made me in rage. Everytime i lose in the semi final or final with any character i get in rage. I bang my fist on the couch or chair, punch the wall or door and throw the wii remote on the ground so hard. Im really glad i got rid of that game now.
I officially own a MAME arcade machine.

Mega Man 9 made me so frustrated, I remember my first death in the game was in the forest level when I jumped over the small pits then a robot comes out of the pit hits me and I fell right in the pit, and the rest of the level was no picnic I assure you, and don't even get me started on how hard Dr. Wily's castle was. All in all the game was fun and now I'm still trying to get all of the achievements. How the heck am I supposed to beat the game without missing a single shot?
So many good games, so little money to spend.

I still can't beat Streets of Rage 3 in Normal Mode because of that damn jet pack guy, he was so easy on Hardest when you had a rhythm going....but damn those jet guys in 3!!!
Megaman Legends. Those boss fights were all such a pain. Tron's darn robots get so tough near the end and it took me days to finally beat that final boss. Then came his second form. You could only imagine how pissed I was. At that point I decided to just go back and find the spare parts to make the crystal laser or something and beat him. Overall it was fun,but that final boss. How I hated him.
@Starlight - you should get the Japanese version, much easier and no censorship!
Revenge of Shinobi used to annoy me a bit, great game but there was one jump over a gap near the end that was really hard to make, even with the correct power up.
Trying to beat the final boss before the roof lowered onto Joe's gal in the background, was impossible without a store of magic gathered in the preceeding level.
I am yet to complete it, even now... (only just finished Last Ninja 2 on the VC though, about 20 years after I first played it on my actual C64).

I only have these same problems on hard mode but the initial pirate attack bosses haunted my childhood. Seriously, that's either the best or worst part of the game, 2 hours in and you get 4 challenging battles. What the hell game?
