Usually halfway into the next generation, systems start being termes "retro." Its because we live in a day and age where movies are only in theatres for a few months now before DVD, possibly representing our short attention spans.
That sucks. And talking about the Movie industry, I can still go out and buy older movies (I'm talking about old 50s westerns here) on DVD. Sure there's Remakes, ports and retro complations, but why must games become "discontued" so quick!?
to pick a number one is hard but some noteable ones are for sure eternal darkness, resident evil 4, skies of arcadia legends, melee, and then so many more but i havent seen anyone put eternal darkness or skies of arcadia legends and if you havent played those two games then you are truely missing out
I never owned a gamecube, but have since had a go at a few gamecube titles since owning my Wii. My favourites so far are Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (don't let the cell shading put you off... the brilliance of the animation is excellent) and Ikaruga. I never got past the third level in Ikaruga, but it is a fantastic shooter worth owning.
Where to start? Eternal Darkness, Mario Kart Double Dash, Resident Evil 4, LoZ: Twilight Princess, TimeSplitters 2, Burnout 1 & 2, Battalion Wars, Smash Bros. Melee, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, LoZ: Wind Waker, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, F-Zero GX, Extreme-G III, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Beyond Good and Evil, XIII, Pikmin 1 & 2, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur II, Animal Crossing, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 (not Adventure), Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine.
I don't have a favorite gamecube game of all time but I will list some of the best ones
Sonic Mega Collection Sonic Gems Collection Mega Man X Collection Mega Man Anniversary Collection Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures Metroid Prime 1 and 2 Star Fox Assualt and Adventure Super Smash Bros Melee Super Mario Sunshine
Wind Waker I know loads of people hate it, but the ocean gives the game incredible depth. I even think that Twilight Princess is nothing when compared to the vast universe of Wind Waker. I wish people would just cope with the cell shaded graphics because it is one of the best looking and stylish games on the gamecube.
