Yeah nah, they could make it F2P right now and i’d still not be interested, which is alarming given my propensity for their games in years gone by.

Fascinating (and tragic) to see though, going to be some very interesting conversations happening over the next year at Bethesda I suspect. Think people prophesising their doom (no pun) are getting somewhat ahead of themselves, but I can’t deny that having seen how much games have moved on in the past 5 years I find many of their titles to look/feel sorely dated.

@BrainOfGrimlock Yeah, Ive never actually played a single one of their games (outside of the FO76 Beta) and their office is only like 20 or 30 minutes from where I live! They def have some soul searching to do especially after the news that ES6 and Starfield (?) will be using the same engine.

@Yosheel Seen some on twitter earlier today, cant believe they released it in such bad shape

Bethesda games being very buggy at launch is about as likely as a Nintendo console having a game featuring Mario.

Difference is, when your game is pushing boundaries/at the cutting edge people will forgive a lot; Skyrim was buggy as heck but was incredible at the time so people were a lot more tolerant (the ps3 issue aside which was admittedly ridiculous).

Their games now - 76 aside - are still of a similar quality and haven’t iterated all that much so perhaps have lost that ‘wow’ factor needed for people to forgive them such flaws? The fact that 76 is, even at base level apparently a worse game means i’m not really surprised people are so angry about it.

RDR2 has a fair few flaws yet despite people being more vocal this time round (which is fair enough given their controls have been terrible for about forever), because the rest of the game is of such a ridiculously high level, many are forgiving it; you only have to read some of the rubbish i’ve posted to see how conflicted and love/hate i feel about it!

Is the base Sims 4 game worth it?

It's on sale at a reasonable price, but every expansion is like... Full-game price. I don't think I'd get any of them.

@ThanosReXXX thanks! I didn't see when that price expires, but I'll probably take advantage of it if ms doesn't surprise with a retailer sale on Friday.

@blueocean yeah, i wasn't even aware a wireless dongle model exists. I thought the dongles were all for wired. (Maybe that's only for ps4 to xbox? Xbox uses a proprietary ratio 6 protocol while the others user bt. Recent xbox controllers also support bt for pc.... But the elite never got that redesign.

Yeah i like the soothing music and sounds on ps4.... That's probably the most charming thing about the machine. But using the ui is painful. I hate not being able to order my games by favorite rather than last played, even as groups.

@darthnocturnal. I'd give your my reaction but then yosheel would have to permaban me...

NEStalgia

NEStalgia

@DarthNocturnal I'm going to go with yes . Maybe they'll make a good game out of it. But if they're discounting it like that after a week..... Maybe they've moved into tes6

Imagine an rpg with no npcs, no stores, towns, dialog, or story, or really much purpose. It's Minecraft with marginally better graphics, more bugs, and players.

Bethesda strategy may be working though. Because 76 is so bad i discovered teso is actually good and spent on dlc in the crown store.

Anyone in Australia looking for a One X this Black Friday then move quick to EB Games (no mention of how long the deal will last but they do accept trade-ins towards it);

“Priced at $549, you can get the Gold Rush edition of the Xbox One X from EB Games with eight games: Halo: MCC, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 4, Gears of War 4, Battlefield 1: Revolution, Battlefield 5, Battlefield 1943, Halo 5 and a month's worth of access to EA Access”*

Worth noting that if you have any of those games you can trade them in immediately for discount against the deal, although (naturally) you’ll be lucky to get much for each of them as they’ll give you the trade-in rather than sale price.

Might seem like a no-brainer to check our sole dedicated games store for the best deal, but it’s been a long time since they’ve been known for having the best price!

That’s about $400USD or £310GBP so not sure how well the deal compares to y’all?

I don't think I experienced a single bug in my first playthrough of Skyrim.

Maybe with the exception of getting stuck in the scenery once. But that was because I was trying to scale a mountain the wrong way.

Caved and bought an S early this morning @ Walmart. Got the game pass for a buck deal and FH4 is almost down downloading Going to be a great day me thinks!

@NEStalgia You're welcome. You might also want to check that second link that I edited in.
There's even lower prices mentioned there.

@redd214 Haha, welcome to the club, again...

You might also want to keep an eye on those links I gave NEStalgia:

Sheesh these Xbox prepaid cards are as big as my iPad.

Kinda neat how they have a weird design on the inside though.

@redd214 welcome... back? Given others comments I’m guessing this is a road you’ve walked before?!

Feels like for the first time this gen MS actually have some decent momentum? I don’t really care who sells most/whether they catch up and all that stuff, just heartening to see some positivity around them.

I’ve long since stopped paying attention to achievements/trophies, but anyone see that the xbox record holder just passed 2m gamerscore? Crazy...

@BrainOfGrimlock yeah, got one few months back but quickly returned it. This will basically be a Forza box and really nothing else but im cool with that. Had a gift card and already sold some of the bits from the bundle I didn't want so didn't cost too much in the end

Glad they're righting the ship also, they really learned from their mistakes.

@BrainOfGrimlock Nice to see some positivity about Xbox indeed. I'd say that they got it right with S and X and now even more with the new studios. The future is bright.

@NEStalgia Playing a bit of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 every night and... finally decided to get Xenoblade Chronicles X and I already have a list of complaints but I also think that it's better than Breath of the Wild and yes, this game has the dash in the left stick click like I wanted BotW to do. It's a switch so you just click once to dash and move both the character and the camera as in any other modern game (except BotW).

The main problem with this game is that when fighting I have to deal with the camera all the time so I miss tons of button prompts. It's like I am playing with the camera and not with the character which sucks. I tried the targeting function but it's awful. It's like the camera system hasn't evolved at all.

The second complaint is the soundtrack. Oh boy, it's totally inappropriate to say the least. And there are no audio settings in this game so you can't turn it down (it's too loud), I barely hear the dialogues. The music... is not good. Then we have the typical Xenoblade annoyances like everything is more complicated that it needs to: check this terminal here for that and you don't even know there is another one for that other thing, did you? Try to explore just to realise that you can't install the probe but you can't make notes on the map about it. Just roam the same areas all the time hoping that you have leveled up for installing the probes.

But the world looks much nicer than in Xenoblade Chronicles or Breath of the Wild and there are some quality of life improvements (unfortunately not the camera) with my favourite one being the tracking quests system and the follow ball, it's overpowered Navi! Awesome. The battle system is less cryptic. The graphic are great (ignoring clipping) and controls are better so I feel much more immersed in this game that in the Wii one and I am also enjoying it more because of that and the little gameplay improvements. Oh, and Monster Hunter inspired them a bit, didn't it?

I think that the story is not good this far. This is the first time in a video game that I answered 'No' to 'Do you want to join us?', etc. because their reasons didn't make any sense and they are doing what they don't want the other species to do to them. So yeah, then I was forced to join although they insisted it was my decision? Then they complained about somebody attacking human beings after planning to basically kill everything else. I mean, it's a game but they didn't write it well and I didn't see the logic anywhere. The only good thing I can say about the story is that because you are just a survivor looking for survivors then it's easy to focus on the slow game progression and forget about the story, while I only beat Xenoblade Chronicles because of the story. It's nearly the opposite here. Also very annoying to read Offline all the time while playing offline, why?

What are your thoughts about the game? I am really curious.

Hm so two days ago I got Dragon Age Inquisition (the full game with dlc was pretty cheap!).

While I was in the downloads I tried to check how big the whole package with the dlc included was, but pressed A instead of the menu button, and ended up opening the game. It was half-downloaded by this point, but I guess that's enough to start playing.

It finished downloaded while I played and I thought "whoa that was very fast". Then I saved the game and noticed I had been playing for six hours 😐

The worst thing is I don't think I advanced much in the story at all.

@Yosheel Haha, yeah, I know that feeling all too well...
The Ready to start feature is a really nice thing, though. And because you're then already playing the game, you just don't notice, and won't be bothered by waiting for the rest of the installation processs to finish, as clearly evident by your own experience.

I'm mildly impressed with the support ubisoft is putting into AC:Sparta. I'm still kinda meh on the game (I love kassandra but they broke the control scheme...and the story is pants) but it is nice booting it up and having new things to do (I just want two new armor sets...which is enough to keep me playing lol) and they are fixing bugs rather quickly. There is a quest that I have been sitting on since I couldn't do it. I shall give it a go tomorrow. I didn't buy anything during the sales but I have an entire stack of xbox games that will take me another two years to beat at this point.

@Yosheel that is incredibly random/coincidental as (pokemon aside) DA:I is all i’ve been playing?!

Are you a DA fan/is this the first time you’ve played it? Looks like you’re enjoying it with a sesh like that?

I played it back at launch, completed it, was incredibly disappointed and never touched it again until now (only dragon age game I didn’t play through more than once) - without trying to put you off (we all like different things in games so it shouldn’t!) my biggest issue was the amount of filler, lack of continuation and the story/pacing in general compared to the earlier games (Origins one of my favourite games ever).

Picked the dlc up a long time ago but still wasn’t enough to tempt me back - a friend talking about it a few days ago saying how much the dlc actually adds has finally got me to give it another go aaaaand...

It’s definitely aged quite quickly and feels pretty last gen mechanics wise (which is fair enough as it was developed to work on both last & current gen) but i’m having some fun with it.

There is still too much ‘mmo jank’ in terms of quests, but rather than slowly plodding through it all per map as I did last time, i’m rushing through a lot more and just completing things in batches and it’s certainly taking some of the tedium out.

Also playing as an archer this time instead of (my usual) mage and it seems to make battles fly a little quicker too which is nice.
