Well, I'm going to have to grind for the first time in Tales of Vesperia.

I'm at the fight against Alexei in Zaude, and they spammed their Mystic Arte 5 times during the fight, which there's no way to avoid.

What's worse, is that none of my party members (other than Repede) know their Mystic Arte, since it looks like they have to be attained via sidequests, rather than just be a natural part of your progression (and even then it doesn't seem like it matters, because I don't think I've ever seen any of the computer controlled party members Over Limit, which is something they were able to do in Abyss).

I'll probably just save my $30 and get Gears 4 when it comes out. That's my main game on Xbox, besides Banjo and stuff like Alan Wake. I haven't played Resident Evil 6, so playing the Xbox One version might be on the agenda.

I had a good day today in Tales of Vesperia (360).

Finished up the dungeon I was working on (though not the one I mentioned a couple posts up, I completed that a couple days ago), and went back to some previous locations to fight some optional bosses I skipped out on before (4 of them, to be exact).

Also, I think I'm getting close to endgame. My party members are all around level 60 (I completed Abyss in the 70's), & I'm starting to get some alternate costumes (which, if Abyss is anthing to go by, you don't start obtaining until towards the end).

I'm not very impressed with Sunset Overdrive. It seems like a more open Dead Rising, and I'm very keen about the tight spaces. Dead Rising 3 still is more engaging. Every big colorful game with colorful graphics just like Project Spark.
I feel like Xbox One didn't get as many good games as Wii U did, except maybe Metro, Tomb Raider, and a few of the indie games like Geometry Wars 3.
Tekken, Gears, Banjo, more Windows 10 support, and later generation games will/should definitely grab my interest.

As far as gameplay goes, I finally got past the part on Child of Light where the game froze on the Wii U version(it was right before a boss fight, where it wouldn't trigger), but I'm basically done with that game forever.

So, I was being an idiot, and forgot that Gears 4 and things like Deus Ex and Mirror's Edge are coming out; later this year. I bought Resident Evil 6 on the Xbox Store(w/ $10 left), and I will buy South Park at GameStop. I also got Shin Megami: Tensai Devil Survivor on 3DS, so now I have things to play, and I still go on Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D.

EDIT: Also, I am going to do the Gears 4 beta.

Well, I'm finally to the final dungeon in Tales of Vesperia, and finally found a save point which I went back to after fighting Zagi for the final time.

Anyhow, the place is enormous (there many areas, particularly in the lower section, that I haven't been to, simply because there's so many different paths to take). For the first time, I really wish there was a way to fast travel back to the beginning of a dungeon, because I really want to open every treasure chest, and restock on items, before the final battle (which TBH, I'm not sure how close I am to it). There are these glowy things that I assume are teleporters/elevators, but every single one of them has been locked.

The next time I start up Tales of Vesperia I'll be up against the final boss!

Luckily, there's an elevator nearby that can take you back to the dungeon's beginning (and back), so I briefly stepped out to restock on items. Still, hopefully I'm levelled enough.

@TomJ, as for 360 games...

If you're into JRPGs, there's Tales of Vesperia & Lost Odyssey (Blue Dragon & Eternal Sonata are supposed to be good as well, though I haven't played them.

In terms of fighting games, there's the various editions of Street Fighter IV, then SoulCalibur IV (& V, which I've heard isn't as good), The King of Fighters XIII, & Dead or Alive 4 (that last one is M, but honestly I don't remember anything that sets it apart from the 3DS entry, which got a T rating). Oh, and the DBZ & Naruto games, if you like either franchise.

In terms of shooters, the Lost Planet trilogy is supposed to be decent (I liked the first one, anyhow), and the HD version of the Goldeneye remake might be worth looking into. Oh, and I believe the older CoD games have a T rating (CoD2 & CoD3).

As for action games, all the Batman Arkham games on the system have a T rating, and then there's the various Warriors games, if you're into those. I'd also recommend Zone of the Enders HD collection (this one is also M, but I think it's due to one particular scene near the beginning of the second game where a character gets shot. Other than that it's pretty much a giant robot action game).

As for others, the Portal games are great (though the first one is only available physically in a collection that also has an M game in it, though you can get it by itself digitally). There's various Sonic games that range in quality, Viva Pinata is supposed to be really good, and of course the various Lego & Skylander games, if that's your thing.

On the digital side, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Limbo, Braid, Comic Jumper, & FEZ are all supposed to be good.

I know there are lots I missed too (the Forza & Burnout racing games are supposed to be good. I personally liked Burnout Paradise).

Just finished up Tales of Vesperia!

The completion is still too new to give an overall opinion of the game, but what I will say is the final boss was pretty cool (especially it's final form). I honestly considered this fight a "test run" (expecting to lose, to see how much I had to grind/plan), but to my surprise I came out on top first time. It didn't make it easy though, as I think I had to use pretty much every type of buffing/curing item there was, and he had a killer Mystic Arte, which Knocked everyone's HP to 1, or killed them if their HP was already below a certain threshold.

Oh, and overall it took me just a tad over 60 hours to complete (which I think was about the same for Abyss for me).

@RR529 It is nigh on time for you to play Eternal Sonata!

My favourite RPG of last generation, and is a real treat for the eyes (visuals) and ears (Chopin).

@TomJ Why not try all those BRILLIANT Xbox Live Arcade games such as Bastian, Braid, Fez, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, LIMBO, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, Portal: Still Alive, Shadow Complex and Trials HD (and Evolution).

These short but sweet games above will probably cost as much a brand new $60 game too!

If you're gonna play any of the last gen Arkham games, I'd advise Asylum, City bored me and I've not played Origins though that was made by a different development team and got worse reviews. Dust, Super Meat Boy and Plants vs Zombies are other smaller games I'd recommend, and if you like Rare's games I'd definitely advise giving Kameo a go, it deserves more credit than it got/gets. Other than that I didn't (and still haven't really) play(ed) too many of the 'main' 360 exclusives like Gears, Halo and Fable (R.I.P) so I can't comment.

Oh and it goes without saying that Banjo-Kazooie is one of the best platformers ever. You'll enjoy it I'm sure.

I definitely will get to it, but I'm going to take a break from any more JRPGs for a bit after this.

Next up I'll be jumping into Samurai Warriors: Katana on the Wii.

I'll go ahead and copy what I posted over at PureXbox about my completion of Tales of Vesperia.

Well, it took awhile, but I finally beat it!

Characters - Over the course of the game, I've really come to like them. None of them had the immense character growth that Luke did inAbyss, but they had great chemistry together, and I didn't even find the "tagalong kid" in Karol to be annoying (which I did think about Anise inAbyss). I'd say my favorites were Raven, Judith, Yuri, and even Rita.

Story - It's pretty standard JRPG fair, but it was enjoyable nonetheless, and I could esily follow it, which is something I will give it over Abyss(which had a lot of techno-babble which I never fully grasped).

Gameplay - It based on the same real time battle system that all Talesgames use, so if you've played one before, you'll know what to expect. I will say I thought it was a slight step back from Abyss, though. I missed the Field of Fonon system Abyss had, which allowed you to power up your special attacks if you used one in the same area an ally had just cast a magic attack. Also, in Abyss, all party members could use Mystic Artes in battle, while in Vesperia only the character you're controlling can, which I felt was a step back. Vesperia added Fatal Strikes (which allowed you to kill basic enemies in one hit occasionally), and Link Encounters (where if you came into contact with one enemy on the world map, if another was close enough, you'd face off against both groups of monsters they represent at the same time), but I don't feel they added much to the gameplay, personally. The one thing I really liked was the special hidden weaknesses bosses had that you could exploit, as it was fun discovering it. Oh, I found Vesperia's difficulty to be higher (though I played Abyss on Easy, while Vesperia didn't have any difficulty settings), which I ended up liking.

World - The HD visuals mean that it not only looks better than Abyss, but any other JRPG I've ever played as well (it truly is gorgeous). There are lots of side things to do (I didn't do everything), and I don't think there's much that's locked away if you don't do it at a certain time, which I liked (that was something I didn't care for in Abyss, where there were sidequests that got blocked off if you didn't do them at a certain time, losing you special items, and even a couple hidden locations). InAbyss you had to revisit many dungeons a second time (going deeper to new parts, but still), while here they are one time only visits (except for hidden extras), which was nice. However, I thought the cities/towns were smaller in general. In Abyss, there were many non-essential buildings/residences you could visit, while in Vesperia, it was mostly just practical buildings (like inns), and story relevant locations (all other doors were locked off).

Overall, there were things I liked more about Abyss, and things I liked more about Vesperia, but they're both fantastic JRPGs. Oh, and it took me around 60 hours to complete it, which I think was about the same for Abyss, lol.

@DarthNocturnal What do you mean released? Also, I signed into my friend's Xbox One so I guess my GameTag won't be on that list lol

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

DefHalan

@DarthNocturnal Ok, sorry. I read that as upgraded from 360 to One, not Original to 360... my bad lol.

@Mario90125 I don't think they have, but Original Xbox doesn't have Xbox Live support anymore.

@DarthNocturnal I thought I read somewhere that Microsoft was working on bringing Xbox Originals to Xbox One

Microsoft and their forward thinking with adding backwards compatibility is the reason why I want a Xbox One over a PS4... but I am focusing on my PC currently lol

For me it was so I can play with my friend... but I had a 360, so the BC is very welcome.

Man, if Mercenaries 1 and the sequel both got BC...I'd be very happy.

Most of my friends went PS4... I feel like they would have gone XB1 if BC was there from the start. Then we could have kept playing the games we love while getting new games
