A new entrant to the market would be nice, really liked the idea of valve bringing a more open console to the market, but those rumours turned out to be nothing more than well just rumours, but an open console with more price competition on digital as well as the retail side would be very nice very sceptical its gonna happen any time soon though.

Consoles becoming a worthwhile purchase in the first year. Seriously, I love current gen but the difference between before and after 2008 is pretty huge in terms of quality gaming. Hell I've been annoyed Vita's early sales haven't been destroying 3DS's early sales because Vita DARED to have launch titles anyone cares about.

Nintendo: Having more original games that don't solely focus on their main franchises. Variety is the spice of life.

Sony: To not try and copy other companies' successful business strategies (Move, All Star Battle Royale, Vita) and be more original. I'd love to see Sony market something new that has never been seen before.

Microsoft: Give up Rare. Please..... just do it for me please....

come on guys can we have a serious conversation of our expectations of next gen and analyzing from were the big three are now and current trends to speculate on where you think next gen will take them.

I mean a good example is how do you think the big 3 will diversify their first party out put. Sony is clearly in the league in this regard with Nintendo in second and Microsoft in last place. But there have been some interesting hires from both nintendo and Microsoft. Nintendo has been beefing up staff on Retro Studios and Monolith soft recently has expanded into another team And recently t Hirokazu Yasuhara joined the American nintendo NST team to work on an unannounced project,

While Microsoft who since the middle of the Gen has had week first party support has been making moves that will impact Durango alot. They have been on a massive development sweet as of late. They have gotten a ton of exclusive XBLA content like Deadlight and Crimson dragon on tap for this year. They have also heavily invested in the mostly untapped Canadian development scene by starting MGS Vancouver and MGS Victoria. They have also started development on MGS Soho and bought Twisted pixel. 343 studios should have halo 4 out by the end of year as the big game They have a very stong 2nd party relationships and will probably buyout Playground games (ex Bizzare creations guys) and remedy studios. A few more have been started that have worked on kinect and xbla.

The biggest was the hire of phil harrison to head up the European market. Dude had alot to do ith games such as littlebigplanet at sony and hopefully he can get rare back on track.

And sony created superbot for there smash bros game and A few other studios working under the Santa Monica branding.

@CrystalKing18 What did the Vita "copy"?

Some original characters to go along side a new IP from Nintendo. Definitely want to see another Twisted Metal from Sony. As for Microsoft, and I know this one won't happen, I'd love to not have to pay for online. Or at the very least reduce the monthly fee a bit. Seriously, I have to pay for Xbox Live to be able to pay for an Xbox Arcade game!

Sony has arguably the most diverse and original output this gen.

I want my next-gen consoles to make me coffee. Otherwise, they're not truly next-gen consoles.

Good games and fresh gameplay mechanics.

Good jrpgs.

From Nintendo i really want to see a great online system, and more games, i dont think i will be able to wait patiently six months every year for a decent one.
I dont get how they launched so many games and all of their franchises for Gamecube, and with Nintendo Wii they haven't done anything.
Or they really went mad with all of the money, or they only make an effort when they are ... screwed.
With all this happy talk, promises, bla bla bla... i really hope they are talking serious this time.

Good jrpgs.

Buy a PS3. Problem solved.

Seriously, the "no good JRPG" thing is an utter myth. The PS3 has an awesome range of JRPGs. I have 20 (if not more) sitting on my shelf at home.

I also want the bottom to fall out on retail. The sooner we move to digital downloads where publishers can protect their profitability, the better.

Kinioka

I already have one. Instead of saying Good, i should have said "many". Or both. Anyway, the best system to play jrpgs is NDS.
20? Japanese imports? Im not a big fan of Atelier/WKC series though...
