I'm not planning to get a Vita as I only need one handheld system and that was always going to be the 3DS, but it's good to see it had a reasonable start. A bit of competition is a good thing. There's no reason why both systems can't be successful and why everyone can't be happy.
Radixxs Haha, hence the at the end of my statement. I understand completely where you're coming from, but to just give you a heads up....It's a conversation that will be heard until the next consoles drop and then it starts all over again!
It was after I was out of college before I could start affording consoles, which is when I also started buying several I missed out on over the years too. I definitely know how you feel, but it also gave the drive to work my butt off to afford them!
@Iz Don't expect a price drop though. I'm afraid Sony is seriously hurting over all of their hardware losses over the past few years and it's just continuing to stack up. I seriously don't know if they've made anything off of their gaming sector since they've released the PS3...though I haven't really cared to go off looking for that info specifically. I have read quite a few credible articles here recently on the issue though.

If the Vita fails sony may just leave the hardware biz. Good thing that won't happen.
I mean they lost 12 years of Pure profit in around 3 years. Not to mention there bleeding everywhere else.
This is true. Let's hope that their other line of electronics keep them afloat so we can continue enjoying their game systems — absolutely LOVE my VAIO!!!

glad to hear that the Vita is doing well. I won't be getting this for at least a year or more because I don't have the money. I have a third child on the way in January so unless I won the lottery, I'll be waiting a year or so before I get the Vita.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
It's a shame, I think the PSVita looks very good. I think it's problem is the price of the system... and the accessories. If they lowered the price I think they will sell better.
I love the look of the system software, really smooth and jazzy, however I do notice 'Choppiness' on the games though.
Like slapshot was saying. Sometimes its all about status and if you don't own a 3ds with monster hunter then your not cool. Monster is bigger then Nintendo and Sony combined right now and if Sony had a monster hunter at launch the vita would be sold out no matter what the price! Sony needs to get back in bed with capcom and get cracking on a monster hunter game for launch and we would be talking about the greatest launch in Japan's history!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Tech101 Oh...I think you'll see a Monster Hunter Vita in the next year or so. Remember, Monster Hunter is a staple PSP series that has sold more units on the PSP than any other system!
Regardless of what many people might think, Capcom isn't killing the market anymore and mainly relying on a few old series to keep them running. I see no real reason as to why they'd not release a MH for Vita.

It makes a day one purchase for the Vita almost impossible because if this is repeated in the US and EU it would surely mean a very quick price cut in the same way as the 3DS.
That doesn't necessarily mean a price drop. Remember north americans are graphic whores. They will wait to see what it does here first before any consideration of a price drop. The software issues might be their biggest problem though.
Nice to see the 3ds still doing great though. Remember that sold well its first week as well.

While it is true that NA gamers are way crazier about graphics, remember that PSP was WAY more popular in Japan than in every other part of the world. If its successor can't even keep good sales in a country where its predecessor is loved by many, then what chance does it have elsewhere?

The difference between the Vita and the 3DS regarding a Price drop is that the Vita is already selling at a loss whereas the 3DS wasnt so it will be a lot harder for Sony to justify a price drop like Nintendo did unless one of the big bosses takes a massive pay cut to cover some of the losses.

If sales continue in this direction in Japan and fall off similarly in other regions, I don't think Sony has much of a choice. Either way, Sony better do something quick because if Monster Hunter 4 is 3DS exclusive (Crosses fingers!), its launch will severely cripple the Vita possibly forever in Japan.
Not a good sign if the PSP outsold it during the second week
I think that those were launch sales.
