I’m sure NL will soon makes a news posts on this since it involves Sonic, but it looks like Tiger Electronic handhelds are going to return: https://www.engadget.com/2020/02/19/hasbro-relaunching-tiger-...
4 games will launch by next fall: The Little Mermaid, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Transformers: Generation 2 and X-Men Project X. Each one will cost $14.99 .
Makes me kinda wish that Nintendo would do a new Game and Watch Gallery or even release dedicated replicas of the best Game and Watch games similar what they did with Ball for Club Nintendo.
I remember having a few of these as a kid before getting a Gameboy. Had Double Dragon, Paperboy a couple others too. They were great little devices at the time.
I would always get these from my grandparents for birthday and Christmas gifts because they knew I liked video games and it was a "video game.". I probably played them once and then threw them in my top draw of my dresser till years later when I donated them all to Goodwill.

SONIC 3?!?! Did they finally sort out the rights with the Jackson estate? Does this mean that we have a chance for Sega Ages Sonic 3 and Knuckles? Will I finally be able to listen to ice cap zone on a handheld that isn't the DS? I am officially hyped!
I remember having quite a few of these, but can't recall the ones I had other than street fighter 2. Everybody had these on the block and at school so I played my fair share of them. It was always the poor man's gameboy 😂, but got the job done.
Oh man i remember those! I begged and begged my mom for a gameboy and she couldn't really afford one so i got those tiger handhelds instead. I even remember which ones. I had Karate king and Double dragon 2. It wasn't the gameboy i wanted but it was nice to have something sorta like it. They were really primitive but honestly they could get addicting.
Eventually when i turned 12 i finally got my gameboy with super mario land 2 six golden coins and a new walkman. The kind that reverses the tape without actually having to take it out and flipping it over.
Best birthday ever!
I had Pagemaster, 101 Dalmations (live action), and Sonic pinball handheld games by Tiger back in the day.
I can't say I harbour any particular nostalgia for them. Lord knows if I had a Game Boy that I wouldn't have looked twice at any of that Tiger rubbish.
I did have a little Game Boy-shaped Super Mario key ring game that I wouldn't mind revisiting, but again, if I had a Game Boy with Super Mario Land, I doubt I would have had any nostalgia for the key ring. EDIT: Turns out that it was a remake of the Super Mario Game & Watch game! Neat!
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
I had some of these but also a Gameboy. While my brother was playing the Gameboy I would play around on a Tiger Handheld.
Imagine giving a kid one of these now. Haha. They even make those Atari 2600 games seem really hi-tech.
I remember being blown away by the Game Boy Color back in the day. I couldn't believe that a portable device with a colour screen could run on a few AAs. How times have changed!
Who asked for this? No really, WHO? Because these "games" were terrible! They were the bargain bin junk that ended up in every drug store clearance basket around the country/world. These were the junk you gave the nieces and nephews you did not know or like.
I know of literally no one who liked these and have never seen anyone say anything positive about them - aside from a handful of people saying things like "at least the art on the sticker is nice" once or twice.
