@Peek-a-boo Switch was March 3, so you mean the first 2 months of the year? Well October into November I was playing Uncharted 4, and afterward I hated to leave the series behind so I picked up the Nathan Drake collection and played 1-2 again and 3 for the first time (I bought it on PS3 but it's still in shrinkwrap........so PS4 was my first time through ), I started Deus Ex: MD which sadly I didn't get far in before I started working on finishing up my WiiU backlog before I had to disconnect it for Switch, so Dec-Mar2 was Color Splash, TP:HD, and a solid month on Tokyo Mirage (I LOVE that game....it's such an addictive battle system, and the characters are fun), and got a little XCX time in before Switch day.
So my PS4 backlog consists of P5, Horizon, DX:MD which is open but hardly played for a series I've loved since the PC original (yeah, even Invisible War....Britney Spears AI aside), Gravity Rush 2, someday maybe R&C. And a bunch of AAA multiplats I will probably never play. Picked up W_D2 for like $20 on Black Friday out of curiosity. Will I ever play it? Probably no.
Because Switch.
I figure for Summer I'll be on the go a lot, indoor/outdoor so Switch is PERFECT. Ideally October/November would be a good time to get into P5 or Horizon, but....then the big game dump on Switch starts......I'll figure out a time for it eventually...
I'm playing my Switch a lot, but in small spurts. Mario Kart is fun, but not "play for hours at a time" fun. Now that Zelda is out of the way, the Switch needs another really compelling single-player game to sink hours of my life into.
Right now, though, Persona 5 owns my life. It's up there with the best games I've ever played. It has been a long time since Atlus has released such a worthy console JRPG (sorry, Tokyo Mirage... you just didn't capture my heart!)
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Peek-a-boo Yeah, enemy AI isn't great. It's okay, but since they don't notice tripwires (and let's be honest, they are not hidden at all), they're easy to deal with; Place some tripwires and go nuts with the sharpshot bow, and even if they notice you, they walk right into a trap. I didn't even know you could destroy the alarm until the very last enemy camp...
I loved the corrupted zones. Rockbreakers don't notice you as long as you don't move, and as long as haven't noticed you before. Their vision is absolutely terrible, so just don't make too much noise and you should be fine.
I was about to mention the dual audio glitch as well, but I assumed it was just me and my impatience. Had I waited a little longer for the recording to finish, I would've been fine I assume. I'm not going to make up excuses though, it was a big oversight in an otherwise very polished game. I hope they patch that some day, or fix it in the sequel.
I also finished the Stormbird area before the mission itself, which led to a pretty hilarious monologue from Aloy. She was acknowledging the fact that the route up ahead was going to be full of danger, but I already cleared the area before, so there was no enemy to be found.
...about GNOG... Finished it in under an hour... I mean, I believe that every developer is free to charge whatever they want, but I expected more for €15...
Remedy Entertainments, the devs behind Quantum Break, announced their new project, codenamed Project 7. Announced for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was described as a third-person action game. E3 reveal? Or is it too soon?
Their new female character design for Fury is apparently less bad than the old female character design. But it still looks like she's a characterized ultra masculine / ultra feminine Warcraft character, so we haven't come too too far. The world itself looks good — we'll have to see how the gameplay ends up. The CG trailer they released looked worse than the screenshots and quite budget.
@Dezzy If you want me to... The trailer wasn't that good. I'm not a fan of the art style either, I skipped the previous two games, so I won't be getting this one either. There. My reaction
@Tsurii Why does any country "need" a sale? It's a sale that happens every year on PSN that aligns with golden week in Japan. Thus, sales on Japanese games.
Talking about Darksiders, THQ Nordic just dropped a bundle of the remastered editions on the PS store for €19.99. Meanwhile the remastered edition that's coming to Wii U is €19.99 on its own, and it won't be out until later this month...
Late and overpriced, perfect swansong for a third party release on the Wii U.
Sony's doing Golden Week as a global thing now? Wow they're really embracing their inner weaboo. Something they seemed to thrive on in the 90's and abandoned with the PS3 and handed freely to Nintendo
@Octane I think I paid £11 for GNOG (pre-order discount) and it comes along with a great dynamic theme, which has temporarily replaced the best dynamic theme going; Firewatch.
I am currently playing through the delightful craziness of HOM-3:
@Octane I'm just happily playing a few puzzles a day!
The presentation is so sleek, and there's nary any graphical distortion in the curves. GNOG is probably the cleanest and smoothest game I have played on my PlayStation 4. I also realised that it is a PS VR compatible game - that must be a great experience; solving the puzzle box right in front of 'you'.
Honestly, I would be a contented man playing all these kind of marvellously short-but-sweet games (like What Remains of Edith Finch, Little Nightmares and GNOG) for all eternity.
The PlayStation E3 2017 conference will be held on Monday June 12 at 6pm PT at the Shrine Auditorium, which is the very same place that they held their superb games and orchestra infused conference last year!
It's at 2AM (again) for me though...
I'm expecting to see more of the following:
Days Gone
Death Stranding (or leave it until Tokyo Games Show for its first gameplay showing)
Detroit: Become Human
Dragon Quest XI
Dreams (maybe announce a beta?)
Everybody's Golf
God of War
Gran Turismo Sport (and give us a concrete release date please!)
Knack 2
MatterFall
The Last of Us Part II (or perhaps they'll save the first gameplay footage for PSX in December)
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
Spider-Man
Sucker Punch and their new game
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
WiLD (or show the game again at the Paris Games Week for its European flavour)
I also expect to see Call of Duty: WWII, Destiny 2 and Star Wars Battlefront II due to their marketing deals.
And the hopeful/wishful expectations:
Armoured Core
Bloodborne II
A new and exclusive FromSoftware IP (they have a three-games deal with Sony)
Final Fantasy VII Remake (show gameplay for the first time)
Shenmue III (as above; show gameplay for the first time)
Devil May Cry 5 (lots of rumblings about this one)
Street Fighter V (show off the new character for season two)
Bluepoint Games and their next remaster (Demon's Souls, pretty please!)
A new or returning game from SIE Japan Studio
Kingdom Hearts III
A new or returning IP from Square-Enix
Horizon Zero Dawn story expansion (probably too early...)
And most importantly, will Sony be able to make it three epic E3 shows in a row?
@NEStalgia They've done it for a few years now, at least. It's a nice, reliable span of time where you can expect discounts on Japanese Playstation games.
@Ralizah Really? I hadn't even heard about it! Granted I don't go into the PSN store....pretty much ever, but I never receive emails from them...come to think of it, not at all these days. After the big hack I pretty much cut all ties with the PSN store other than registering the systems to my accounts, and getting the First Light DLC (I'm a huge sucker for InFamous, and I don't know why) and even for that I bought from GameStop or Amazon and just entered the code.
After I let my PSN+ subscription end (I'm not paying the price hike to buy other people free games I don't download) I kind of stopped paying much attention to any of the log in based activities...I didn't even notice they stopped emailing me about things like that!
