And, in this specific case, there's nothing to "weigh in on". It's a delay.
You don't understand the online games discourse. Further still, you "weighed in" with the remainder of this very same post.
...sigh I guess not? Like, I don't understand what you're even trying to say here. Whatever. I guess I'm just tired of never understanding what you guys are talking about without going to 50 different sites, all of which I already know I hate for one reason or another. Siliconera!!! Never loads up on my ipad, and their ads tend to give me viruses. Twitter cannot stop begging me to give it my first born child every time I try to view even a single post. IGN, Polygon, Destructoid, and so many others are so poorly optimized and layed out that even reading their articles are a chore. And then sites like PushSquare and Playstation Blog are so heavily PR'd that skimming for pertinent information is like finding a needle in a haystack for any article that consists of more than 3 paragraphs.
Gematsu's the only website that I genuinely enjoy browsing for gaming news, but they're also so heavily specialized that anything mainstream falls to the wayside. I feel like a noob walking into Gamestop one day and having to look up Metacritics on my phone, because I didn't realize Uncharted 4 and Driveclub were out already. Not that it's usually a problem, since I've largely given up on the AAA part of the Game Industry, but this is one of those times where it becomes extremely frusrating. I guess I'll just have to go back to my Retro Japanese games for while. I think I need a break...
So, to summarize, for PS4 in 2017, we currently have...
South Park: The Fractured but Whole - Q1 2017
Mass Effect: Andromeda - Q1 2017
Outlast 2 - Q1 2017
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 — Final Chapter Prologue - Q1 2017
Gravity Rush 2 - January 20
Resident Evil 7 - January 24
Yakuza 0 - January 24
Nioh - February 9
Persona 5 - February 14
For Honor - February 14
Sniper Elite 4 - February 14
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk - February 21
Horizon: Zero Dawn - February 28
Jesus christ.
Absolutely ridiculous.
If I really had a cherry pick two or three of those, it would be Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn and probably Resident Evil VII.
But I also want to play Nioh, Persona 5 and NieR: Automata!
@Ralizah
Half those will have to be pushed back if some of these publishers want their games to succeed. The games that get zero for marketing, like Gravity Rush, Nioh, Nier, Yakuza, should all hit their target dates because these games have specific audiences that will buy the games and that's it. For games that companies will advertise like Horizon, For Honor, Resident Evil and Kingdom Hearts it's going to be hard to get the spotlight if all release so close to each other. RE will probably stay in January to also get some of that movie promotion but Horizon, For Honor and KH I could see falling to May and beyond.
@Ralizah Was South Park given a Q1 date? I thought it was given the same vague "2017" that GT Sport got when it was delayed. I imagine both will be out in March/April though.
Speaking of March, that gives us Ghost Recon Wildlands. Oh, and Zelda BotW of course.
Relevant information: "South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC, calendar Q1 2017."
@Peek-a-boo Yeah, there are a lot of games on that list I'd like to play. Gravity Rush 2 and Persona 5 are the only ones I'm 100% guaranteed to preorder and play as soon as they release, but I'm also really interested in Yakuza 0, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, and Resident Evil 7 as well. Even if I was willing to spend that much money, though, there's simply no way I can play all of those games at launch when they release so close to one-another.
Haven't tried the Outlast 2 demo yet. What didn't you like about it?
@Gamer83 Persona 5 releasing so close to Horizon is an interesting test. I'm curious if Horizon will cannabalize its sales, or if P5 is well-known and anticipated enough that it will do well even when launching next to some gazillion-dollar Sony game.
@Ralizah I didn't think much of the first Outlast; it started off well, and the video camera and batteries 'gimmick' held its own for a while, but it soon became somewhat predictable and the enemies/monsters didn't provoke any fear or tension for me.
I played Outlast after Alien: Isolation and P.T. though, so that probably didn't help!
The Outlast 2 demo is more of the same albeit set in a Catholic Church and has a cleaner and somewhat clinical visual overhaul, which is a welcome change from the chunky and grubby looking first game.
Perhaps a demo is a poor way to demonstrate a horror game however, the demo just didn't do anything for me - there's a tentacle looking creature that is supposed to be scary, but I just thought it was silly TBH!
Give it a try, and see for yourself (if you like it).
Pretty good list. I'm pretty sure I'm getting gravity rush 2, Yakuza 0 (for the business card holder...already have the game and looking forward to 6!), Nioh, Berserk and Persona. I'm getting For Honor (pretty excited for this one actually) but I don't know which system I want it for yet. I'm hoping it will get a good PC port but Ubisoft is hit or miss with that.

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
@Octane Yeah, TLG is pretty much the only console game I have interest in this holiday. Even then, I'm half tempted to get the NES Classic Edition instead. On 3DS I at least have Sun/Moon and Dragon Ball Fusions to look forward to.
Anyways, it seems MLB The Show 16 and the Uncharted Collection have also received price drops to $20. Great price for those games as well.
@IceClimbers Well, there's FFXV, Dragon Quest Builders and World of FF, but knowing SE, I'm better off waiting for the inevitable all-in-one edition. It's not that I need those games day-one anyway. And I'm still playing The Witcher 3, so I don't think I'll run out of games to play anytime soon.
