"As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
When asked if Sony plans to host an off-site event around E3, similar to Electronic Arts’ EA Play event, Sony Interactive Entertainment senior vice president of communications Jennifer Clark said, “We will not activate or hold a press conference around E3.” A Sony spokesperson further told Polygon, “We will not be programming around E3.”
Regarding the “new and familiar ways” Sony plans to engage the community, Clark said, “We are looking at events as a whole and how we can speak more to our fans and continue to wow them. The timing of [the skipped 2018 PlayStation Experience] and E3 didn’t allow for that. But lots of exciting things to come, and we hope to share shortly. "
"PS experience returning, Most devs already have dev kits for ps5 ( Spoiler: It’s a monster), Sony prepping hard for ps5 and one of the reason for no e3 next year because they blew all their load this year and got nothing new to show next year (They want to show new stuff at psx)
Small reveal mid 2019, Big one at psx, Plans might change though
Remember the very first ps4 reveal ? Something like that but hey then again Plans might change
Nope it’s coming soon because Anthem is being tested on one of the dev kits, It’s coming in the next 1-1.5 years and boy it’s a beast"
From the guy who announced the announcement of today !
I'm convinced that the PS5 will be under the christmas trees of 2019...
How well does PSVR handle with original PS4 hardware?
That $200 slim bundle with Spider-Man that's coming up next week is tempting, but I want to get the VR headset one day if I get a PS4, and I was wondering if it still worked well with the older hardware (I've heard differing accounts).
I'd probably be hooking it up to a 720p TV, so the 4K capabilities of the Pro don't interest me much.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@RR529 I'm able to let you know in a couple of days! If I forget, tag me again next week, and I'll share my first impressions. I'll probably share them here anyway.
I gotta be honest, I think this is really, really stupid of Playstation. No matter what justification they have (and the justification is basically that they are too lazy to show any of the many good games coming to Playstation, because they aren't as big as the same 5 first party games), it's just dumb. It's just taking the spotlight away from themselves for no reason. Even when Nintendo supposedly considered E3 unimportant, that's not actually true. It's really not true, and I'd argue BOTW's success came partially from intentionally making it dominate E3 2016 when they didn't have a lot of big titles to show.
According to a bunch of rumours spread over multiple sources; two PSX-style events next year. If true, that makes sense why they're skipping E3. The system won't be out until 2020. And ''according to the so-called “insider”, the new console's controller will include a camera for improved virtual reality tracking.''
I assume the reason they're skipping E3 is quite simple. We already know what their remaining big games are for the PS4 and they're saving everything else for the PS5, which will be announced in mid-2020, for launch at christmas 2020.

I haven't been on board with my ps4 from day 1. My perception of when they are likely to launch a new generation may be flawed. I just think that, if they can easily get momentum throughout 2019 and into 2020, we'll likely see 2020 as a new system year. Or is their momentum gone by summer 2019? I'm not too sure about the flow of things for sony.
