First of all, this is not meant as and advertise thread, but as a place to talk and inform about the Nintendo advent calendar game "Mission in Snowdriftland", which was published 15 years ago. I hope there are many users who still know about this and are still active. In case there is something not in line with the rules, I ask the mods to contact me.
So does anyone remember the Nintendo advent calender platformer game called "Mission in Snowdriftland", which came out 15 years ago?
It was a marketing game presented by Nintendo in retro pixel art style and meant as a tribute to classic platformers like Super Mario. You played a little snowman called Chubby and could open a door of the calendar each day at Christmas time to play one level. At the end of each level you unlocked exclusive goodies like wallpapers, desktop icons, ringtones, etc.
As I am the designer of the game I am curious to know if there are people who still know about it or even played the game back then?
I thought beside a healthy discussion about the old times it might be interesting for many users who already played the original one and are still active on the forums to know that we're planning to bring it back this winter. Yes, 15 years after its first appearance, it's been a looong time Unfortunately it won't be on a Nintendo console for now, but on PC/Steam.
Here is a screenshot of the first level:
And is it ok if I post a link to the official website? I don't want to break any rules, so I better ask before.
However I really would like to hear your thoughts about the original game, in case you played it or even if you didn't
This is one I'm looking forward to actually, I like the idea of playing a level a day this upcoming Advent!
Closer to December, you would definitely do well to remind people about this, I'm keen to enjoy this even though I never experienced the original Flash game or website years ago.
Brilliant, I'm set up to be notified when the new Kickstarter campaign will launch.
And sure, I've removed the newsletter link, though does this mean you're no longer notifying people who signed up to the old newsletter? This might mean you aren't reaching as many people as you could.
@boci
Yeah, though I was set up to be reminded about the first Kickstarter campaign nearer to its intended finish, it was cancelled before I was able to make a pledge, thus I wouldn't receive any notifications that any previous backers would've about a new campaign.
It would be a way to reach interested parties that missed the first campaign like myself, I have a habit of backing a campaign near the end for whatever reason.
I think you are already a member since a long time on this forum, right? If so, you might help me out: Is there a way to post images with tags or other ways, so I can show some of the original graphics and also new ones?
@boci
Nintendo Life have covered Mission in Snowdriftland before, granted it was 11 years ago for the website's 2010 run.
If you reach out to Nintendo Life they might be interested in covering the relaunch of an old Nintendo memory, even if it's not destined for a Nintendo system.
Nintendo Life often cover things that are sentimentally related to Nintendo or might be in their reader's interests.
In case anyone is interested: Our Kickstarter campaign has just launched yesterday. There are also new details and graphics showing changes planned for the remaster.
Oh, and you can claim a Chubby plushie among other exclusive stuff
