Topic: Sony Making Super Smash Bros. Clone *(Not a Rumor Anymore!)*

On the other hand, we PS3 owners will be playing this while Nintendo fans wait about 3 years for the next Smash Bros.

Except for the fact that I will actually be playing a different fighting game. That won't play largely the same as what is admittedly the only fighting game I've played that much of this console generation. That reminds me, maybe I should get Skull Girls...I could pretend Soul Calibur is still half as good as it was and get 5 I guess?

I honestly did realize a while ago that I need to play more fighting and racing games again. I miss those genres, screw you bad economy!

There's a rumor that this game might be on PSVita as well. If we're right and Sony are REALLY trying to rip off SSB, this is a dead cert.

To be fair, they realized Vita was just now escaping from being "that system that has inferior versions of PS3 games" so they have to fix that.

(note: oddly, I'm expecting the Wii U version of Smash 4 to be the dissappointing one. Not sure why really.)

I don't get how Sony even wanted to do this. Yeah, perhaps it would be successful, but it will never overpower SSBB. The problem is, the roster in the game is abysmal. For example, Crash Bandicoot is going to have to KILL people like Nathan Drake. Weird, huh?

It's not like there are excecution moves in this game like Mortal kombat. Whats weird is that Kratos is in a game with absolutely zero blood and gore...

Hate to break it to ya, but this will do better than Brawl. When a big PS3 game comes out, EVERYBODY BUYS IT. As much as it pains me to admit, if this does better commerically than Brawl, I won't be suprised.

Lol what? Brawl sold 11.01 million copies, which is 8th on the Wii. The highest selling game on PS3 has sold 11.85 million copies, which was Call of Duty: MW3, a multi-platform game. Playstation All-Stars isn't a already established series like Smash Bros. is, and the general public does not know Playstation characters like they know Mario, Pikachu, Kirby, Link, etc. It's not gonna be as successful sales wise.

It is kind of crazy to expect this to sell better than Brawl. It's not like it has to for Sony to call it a success though. That is an arbitrarily high bar to set. It's not like the games are fighting over the same fans. People who want a bunch of Nintendo characters to fight are still going to want Smash Bros, even if they suddenly want a Sony fighting game, too.

I was gonna point out that Sony could have a ton of the current most relevent series to make it one of the biggest successes they've ever had in terms of sales, especially after the still not a coincidence Long Live Play commercial earlier this year.

But then I remembered that half of the confirmed characters so far are probably even more obscure than Ness so who knows.

Agreed. I watched the trailer and was fooled for the first 5 seconds. With the layout and even the P1 and P2 Above those players heads, it just looks to much excactly like the game. Come on Sony get creative not plagerism.

That'd be the case if people weren't still playing Smash Bros. and/or keeping it alive through hacks like Project M (which I recommend everyone on this site give a try. It's really cool, and doesn't harm your Wii, and is completely legal).
As for the debacle that this will sell better than Smash Bros., there is absolutely no chance of that happening. People don't know Sony characters like the NIntendo ones, especially people who are casual and looking for a good party game. Last time I checked, Brawl sold over 10 million copies. People on the PS3 don't buy games en masse like owners of the 360 and the Wii. I remember reading an article on destructiod on how Halo 3 sold more copies than uncharted 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank Future games, Infamous, and something else COMBINED.
