Title Fight is looking good! It's not the Special Olympics video game I've always wanted, but it'll do.

...in my pants.

LordJumpMad

Why everybody mad?
Sony is getting a SmashBros. type game, is that a bad thing?

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

lol, IGN is having a flame war in the comments on this thing. xD
I honestly don't care, though I just wish thy could like...merge all companies together like I said before. (but that would never happen. T.T)

@Swiket I was being facetious, because of all the talk of "Sony is the company who steals from Nintendo", when Microsoft even went so far as naming their motion controlled device (Kinect) the exact same as one of the games (EyeToy: Kinect for PS2) that it's competition's device uses that's extremely similar. I think it's quite funny actually!

Sammy has done a ton of digging and has all the pieces put together on this rumour:

Looks legit and will make for a helluva fun game if done correctly. It's been too long since we've had a good new brawler and work hasn't even begun on the new Smash Bros yet for WiiU/3DS.

Wonder if its going to be cross platform for the Vita and the PS3. Would be a great incentive for those wanting a reason to get a Vita near the launch window. It also let's sony check the box of we did cross platform party fighter before nintendo did. (Smash is at least two years out).

My only problem is after seeing Heroes on the Move becoming wasted potential this I would be wary of this.

Also Have Sackboy be the Kirby of the game. You can play with default sackboy but you can also dress him up in suits to use the abilities of others.

WAT!

I wonder if this'll affect Snake's presence in SSB Wii U?

No telling. Kojima would obviously be happy, but Nintendo might not like sharing... I have no idea how they feel about that sort of thing. Is Snake supposed to be in this game that's supposed to be being made?

Don't think nintendo would be too mad. Only reason Snake got in was under Kojima's recommendation. Its not like sony can pull off a sonic or Megaman.

The biggest sign of solidarity would be Cloud Strife, the main Guy from VerusXIII or Sora form squareenix. (granted then Squenix would have to give nintendo Layle,Neku, and some Dragon quest guy.)

I'm not sure why Nintendo's opinion should Snake make an appearance matters? Unless they signed some kind of exusivity agreement with Konami (not likely) then Nintendo has no right to have an opinion.

Also, regardless is what Square Enix does here, they don't owe Nintendo any of their characters for the next smash brothers game. It would be awesome (chocobo), but let's keep it real here, thesecharacter showings are business decisions, not loyalty.

Popyman

I hope this is true! Sony and the other developers they're close to have a fantastic library of characters to make this work. I just really want another fighter in the style of SSB that is actually, you know, GOOD. I'm tired of the sort of decent clones that pop up now and then...

Konami don't legally owe Nintendo anything, but Nintendo still might not want people to connect their fighting game with a fighting game on some other platform. It could be they want their fighting game to have characters that don't show up on fighting games on any other consoles. Nintendo can of course have whatever opinion they want when it comes to their own game, and they sometimes have some weird ones. Not saying I think that'll be the case, but it is a possibility.

Although it's a console, I do remember Miyamoto's facial reaction to the Kinect. Haha...

You have to remember kinect goes against miyamoto's thoughs about gaming. Even though he enjoys motion controls he sees the need for physical feedback. and lets get real kinect biggest sucess in the future will be a compliment to the games using motion and voice control in menus and the dasboard. Kinect 1 sucks because of the crappy cameras they used in it and the voice software was older.

Sure. And all Nintendo can do is refuse to allow Snake on to the next Smash Brothers game (unless Konami and Nintendo signed a contract for multiple games).

I guess we'll have to wait and see whether that happens.

Adam

Right, that's what Pixelman and I were talking about, how his inclusion in this game (I assume there is some hint to his inclusion in the video that this came up?) might affect Nintendo's willingness to include him in Smash. Nothing they can do about him appearing in another fighter but put on their best pouty faces if it bothers them at all.

Unless the game is first party only - which I highly doubt it will be - I think the chances of seeing Snake in the game are way greater then not!

People associate the Metal Gear franchise with PlayStation far more than any other system - obviously because most of the games are exclusive to the brand. Heck, many die-hard fans of the MGS series don't even claim the NES versions of the MSX originals to be true entries in the series. If it wasn't for MGS: Twin Snakes, I doubt Snake would have even made it into Smash Bros.

I'm up to speed now. I would hope Nintendo is more mature than that.

Actually I was wondering more whether Sony or Nintendo would pay lots of monies to make him exclusive, haha. (which comes down to pretty much the same thing, I guess)
poor Snake, no wonder he's always hiding in a cardboard box.

Hideo's been wanting the series dead since MGS2, you sure he wants to be reminded even more about the series' newer Playstation days?

The guy's forced to come back more than Yugioh's creator.
