The sequel to my fifth-favorite game of all time, an underrated dark puzzle mystery game that never came out for WiiWare from Telltale Games, the awesome people behind the Sam & Max, Strong Bad, and Tales of Monkey Island games.
You can pre-order it for 10% off plus the original for free if you missed it (otherwise gift it to a friend). There's also a caption contest going on for early access.
While you await its June 30th release on PC, Mac, and potentially iDevices, enjoy this trailer (spoilers from the first game): [youtube:DV2Y8qaP0vk]
I loved the original and I've been looking forward to Puzzle Agent 2 since it was announced. Heh, I actually bought the first one twice - once in the Telltale Adventure Bundle and once when BttF was on offer with PA for free. I'm not sure if I'll preorder it though, since Telltale games tend to get discounted sales pretty quickly. I might wait for a bit before buying it.
Yeah waiting would be smart if I didn't care about being one of the first to discover the mystery of Scoggins and vanquish The Hidden People once and for all. Plus I love giving Telltale money.
Actually in retrospective it was just different. The first one was legitimately creepy and scary for me, but this one is more wacky and crazy, though it still has excellent writing and voice acting. Not what I expected or as good as the first game for me all in all, but highly enjoyable and it added to the franchise all the same.
Also, the puzzles and the writing I found were better overall, while the story wasn't quite as good.
I see. I know i'll pick it up eventually (especially since it's cheap even without any Telltale sales), so i'll weigh in then.
Does the story wrap up, or is it left a bit open-ended to set up a sequel (assuming you've finished the game)? Though they obviously could always do a sequel regardless, with a different setting or story.
Without spoiling much, it wraps up the "Mystery of Scoggins" saga (maybe not complete satisfactorily, since the ending feels rushed), but it leaves the door wide open for Puzzle Agent 3 (the prospect of which makes me super excited for reasons I won't spoil).
I'm partway through the first and I already have the second downloaded for my iPod Touch. Once I beat the first, I'll start on the second. Pretty great game thus far and I'm really excited to see how the second will play out.
