Uh oh.
Sony gets sued

It's obvious the people filing the lawsuits are not doing this for those who have their accounts at stake. It's all for their wallets as many have posted. Seriously. Human beings suck.

Yeah its stupid to sue when only God knows who is gonna be seeing that money.

My problem is:

If this person wins (doubting it, but let's just make a scenario), where is this money going to go?

I know for one it's not going to us- the ones who have our accounts on the line. That's just BS.

All this person is doing is wasting the court's and Sony's time. If this had nothing to do with him, then well, it had nothing to do with him. So why sue? Especially when you're going to lose because of your irrelevance to this situation?

@Fox.... My understanding was that Live went down for 11 days back in the original XBOX days. I don't hate Microsoft as I did get another 360 today!

I don't know if any of you read through the leaked chat logs that blew up today on N4G (apparently wiped from the internet now), but these guys were extremely smart, and apparently our personal CC info wasn't double encrypted, but was instead right there for them in plaintext.

I'm wondering if our trophies will be reset too? If so, I'm going to cry for Stuffy for like two days, and then I'll whine for loosing my 2600 trophies for a few minutes!

Man, I'd feel soo bad for Stuffy too. He is like the trophy god!

Are you sure? Leaderboards get reset at times, and some 360 owners claim that they had too high of Gamerscores and got accused of cheating, and eventually found their Gamerscores reset.

I'm not too attached to mine anymore like I used to be. I had an incident where I lost trophies and since then I just refuse to bore myself for the sake of a trophy. They simply don't actually exist and in theory could be reset or lost. I don't think this will happen here, but I do think that it could happen, I just hope not!

I'm worried about my trophies as well but I'd feel especially bad for Slapshot & Stuffgamer if we lost them. Those 2 are freakin' beasts when it comes to trophies.

Is it even possible to have 2600 trophies?! even after losing all your trophies previously?... what ...
If my trophies were erased, then a nervous breakdown would be sure to follow...not really, but I would still be slightly extremely dissapointed with Sony.

A game from the COD franchise that interests me? Impossible. But then again, what was that tingly feeling of excitement that I felt when watching that trailer? ...All sarcasm aside; the trailer was awesome! But I do agree with your point, western developers need to stop with the first-person shooter zombie games! They need bring some..."differentness" over from japan, We need a Katamari/Muscle March-esque FPS already!! I could imagine it already...

Sadly the more I read about this lawsuit the more I feel like this will be the death of Sony.

Sony is a very big company and I am sure they have seen lawsuits before, if anything it my kill the Playstation but I dont think it will even do that.

Sony's also in the right, legally speaking (hell, as far as I'm concerned, it's also morally and ethically in the right, but the only one that counts here is legal right). You don't get to successfully sue a corporation just because they've pissed you off. They need to have broken some kind of consumer law, and Sony is the victim here, not the criminal.

If Sony kept any facts hidden, and it is proven that they hid the fact (if it is fact) the hackers got into information/credit cards, I can see this turning out bad in the courts. People will jump on the class action bandwagon and be getting their money if any is being won.

So it turns out credit card details were encrypted, but passwords, usernames etc. were not.

Sony will stomp this guy in court. He is a young dude from a few hours north of me, and he doesn't even have his facts straight. Aviator posted the link to the Eurogamer article, but here is the actual comments from Sony that released last nigh on all these issues. There is a lot of false information going around unsurprisingly, and this guy is suing to get money and will fail. Don't even get worried about Sony getting hurt in court, you and me and everyone else signed a User Agreement that plainly states everything, but nobody reads them, and then wants to sue at every chance they get. It is just another sick new way of the world!

@ChiyoKat... Yep, I've got like 2600-2700 trophies myself, but Stuffgamer has like 2400 and like 25 Platinums! I've only got 9 Platinums.

I don't have any platinums. I do, however, have an electronic drumset and a really comfortable chair.

All in all I'm pretty happy with my situation!

Broke down and started playing Portal 2 single player...was gonna wait til PSN was back up but I got antsy, played through the original Portal this morning, and had to scratch the itch. I love the pacing of this game so much it's almost frightening. Also beat Clash of Heroes and Mint's journey on Threads of Fate...who'd have thought that PSN going down would spur me into actually using my PS3 more often again? Been neglecting my Steam gaming....Arkham Asylum and Gothic 3 are calling my name.

Sony didn't keep anything hidden though. That was blatantly clear from the outset.

As upset as people got, Sony did the right thing at every step of the way. It just got hit by a sledgehammer, and was going to lose out either way. None of its own fault.

Speakin of portal 2 i decided to play the original portal today i haven't played it yet and after i gave it a chance i really like it. At first it didnt click with me way back when, so i never got into it. Im not good at puzzles type games but i like these alot
