To answer my own question: They made Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Steamboy, both Zegapain games, DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2, Korgs DS, the Resident Evil Rail shooters, and then a bunch of crap I don't care about. Out of all of those, DBZ: SSW2 was the only game that was exceptional(IMO). I won't miss them. You'll get over them. Moving on.
Well, not really. Since it means there will never be a Nier 2. And, as I qualified before, Nier was a clear indication of a developer that was hitting its stride.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a tragedy on par with a hypothetical news that From Software has closed up shop.
@WaltzElf: There are two main reasons I didn't buy Nier: One, I didn't have money to spare at the time because I had almost zero income. Two, I was pissed we didn't get the Replicant version. I am of the opinion that the game might've sold better if that version had been an option in America.

@Waltz.... I will get Nier at some point, I really think games such as this are having a hard time finding buyers with ALL the incredible games dropping all the time on PS3 over the last year, its hard to find time to keep up with all of them.
It's unfortunate that the few times Square Enix puts something into the market that isn't a "Final Fantasy" or "Dragon Quest", no one buys it because it isn't a "Final Fantasy" or "Dragon Quest"
They shoulda called it "Final Fantasy: Nier" - then everyone woulda bought it.
Mind you, I look forward to the next thread/ editorial/ magazine article bemoaning the lack of creativity in the games industry. Because Nier proves taking a risk works. I'll say this: (and this definately isn't pointed at you, Slapshot - but gamers in general, I'm on a soapbox here ) You only have yourselves to blame. If you actually wanted original, creative games and not sequels you shoulda damn well bought Nier.
BTW Cavia - I'd totally hire you all if I had a few million to blow
The World Ends with You is an exception I guess...
@Slappy: No, WaltzElf was just using that as a comparison for Cavia, which DID close shop.
@Strofan: I've always said Microsoft was stupid to make a version of the 360 that didn't come with a hard drive. It's still true almost five years later.

@Slappy: I got that e-mail! I'm very impressed, too...Atlus games almost NEVER go Greatest Hits!
@Strofan: Don't worry, the PS3 has been gaining ground for some time now. Also, America's the only region in which it hasn't already outsold 360. I hear it's long since done in Europe and of course Japan.

That's why I didn't buy it. Plus, it doesn't look very fun to me
Hadn't heard of this Other M problem...my guess is that it's a dual-layered disc like Brawl and Prime Trilogy. That seems to be the most common reason people have trouble running Wii discs. I've never had any trouble with any of those games, nor has my brother (separate Wii's). Oh, well...totally off-topic.

It is a dual layered disc. To be fair, I think at least 3/4ths of the people complaining about it also complained about Smash and/or Prime Trilogy and never got around to getting it repaired, so it seems like more people have this problem then actually do.
There's still no good reason this was ever an issue, though. Smash Bros. has a pretty early release, and dual layer DVDs aren't all that uncommon. The trick was just hope you got a dual layered disc before you're warannty was out so you could get it repaired for free.
Borderlands is an awesome game. I bought it yesterday and love it. It might not be as good as Fallout 3 but it's up there.
The online Co-Op is perfect. You can do the whole game with someone.
