This is getting rather annoying.

My PS3 fans are loud,not to the point where I can't hear my TV but its rather provoking.
Also on my SDTV,when I am on the AV channel and using my PS3,there is a weird sound too....
It goes away when....i simply turn off the volume on my TV but the noise is annoying.
I then have my Laptop fan going off on top speed every EXACT 5 minutes.

I can't take this crap anymore.
Maybe I'm over-reacting.....i don't know why i'm only hearing the noise now.

Do you have cable TV? I had problems with my PS3 when I first hooked it up to my SDTV. There was an annoying constant buzz coming out of the speakers as well as bars going up the screen. This would happen even while trying to watch TV with the PS3 turned off. I didn't know what to do so I researched it online for days until someone mentioned that the cable signal can sometimes interfere with the PS3. I cut the cable signal going to my TV and suddenly the problems went away. Whenever I play now, I have to disconnect the cables going to my TV to avoid any problems. This only happens on my SDTV. I can play on the HDTV fine without having to unplug anything.

I have a problemo with my system
I was playing FFXIII, when my game freezes. I shut the thing off, and I see that the disc icon is not there. I take it out and put it back in and it doesn't show up. Curious, I wait until the morning, I vaccuum my vents to dispose the dust and it works for about an hour before freezing again. I tried putting in a movie and that doesn't work either. I'm at a loss of options and my warranty expired.

I feel your pain! I was playing GTA4 about a month ago when my PS3 froze. I restarted it but it would not read the disc at all. I quickly tried another game, dvd, cd, and blu-ray movie but nothing would work. My PS3 works fine otherwise so I'm sure my blu-ray drive gave out. Luckily my Best Buy extended warranty doesn't expire until August. I just haven't taken it in because I haven't backed up my game data. I've been playing nothing but PSN games.

Does your PS3 work at all or is it just the blu-ray drive? Either way I think you might end up having to send it in to Sony for repairs. I think that's what I would do if I didn't have my extended warranty.

My PS3 works fine and I can play demos and such, it just won't read other media. I'm don't think it's my blu-ray drive though because the day after it froze, it worked for about an hour. It may be just be dirty lens or something. Does anyone recommend any lens cleaners so I don't have to take the thing apart?

I wouldnt recommend any temporary fixes and deep in the thread you will find a guy named Castlehominid who tried to fix his PS3 and has disapeared from the thread and Im willing to bet the problems he started having again ended up crashing his PS3. Send it in or trade it at Gamestop toward a new PS3 is my best advice.

In that case you might want to check out this Maxell Blu-ray lens cleaner on Amazon. There's a review from someone who had a similar problem. His PS3 wasn't reading discs properly so he tried it and it worked! I've never used the product myself though so I can't say it'll work for sure. And like Slapshot said, it might just be a temporary fix. I hope you're able to fix it without having to open it up or send it in to Sony.

@Odd.... oh I forgot to add that I never left the opening areas so I can go back and check all the vending machine buy backs and see If I did screw up and if so buy it back, SO Im bout to do that.

I tried changing the scarts but that didn't work so it has to be my SDTV.

Its interesting to note that this sound only happens on the AV channel.
Every other channel on my TV thats not AV is dead quiet.

Again,its not the PS3 because my TV has two AV channels and it happens on the 2nd AV channel aswell.

Old TV's suck. Really,I can't wait to get a HDTV.

I'm going to stop by Best Buy tommorrow to pick up the Memorex CD/DVD-Player Laser-Lens Cleaner and see if it works. Wish me and my playstation good luck.

Yup, might be time to save up for a HDTV.

Just make sure it's ok to use DVD lens cleaners on PS3s. Some people say it's ok but others say it can damage the lens. Good luck and keep us updated.

@chadthegamer: About a month ago, it came to light that FFXIII in particular has been causing some people problems with their PS3's. I don't know if they ever figured out the exact cause, though. I DO know that some PS3's died COMPLTELY, so you're fortunate it's just the disc reading problem. Hopefully, cleaning it will work...not sure why it would, really, but technology is weird like that.

Is there anything specific I need to know about HDTV's?
I hear some of them have different refresh rates or something and can look bad.

I just need to know the basic stuff so I can get actual HD.
I know I'll need a HDMI cable but does it matter if its expensive or cheap and would the price affect the quality of the HDMI cable output?

@chad... yeah good luck man, hopefully you will be fully up and running this afternoon.

@sean.... pretty much you get what you pay for. If you buy a $100 tv its not going to look perfect But it will definately look Way better than SD. Go 720p to save money for sure, you can barely see the difference until stretched above 40in. Just me, I love Samsung but the PS3 likes bright display and Samsungs darker displays still look great, but I have to adjust TV settings for different games at times. As for HDMI... its a cable I've got a really expensive one and a cheap one and the is no difference. They have also dropped in price Big time now too.

If I get this job,they'll pay me around 150 euro a week so i'll without a doubt have a nice HDTV within 2 weeks.
Once I'm qualified,it will be over 1000 euro a week and thats more than what my dad gets. LOL

Thats all if I get the job though.

I hate that feeling

I have like 11 games and I feel like not playing any of them anymore.
I don't know why but thats how I feel.

I need to think right now on whats bothering me.

Maybe its because its very warm in my room right now due to the heater being turned on.

I mean I cannot get around why I feel like this right now.
I want to play my games....but at the same time,i don't.

I get like this sometimes myself. I can tell you this though. DO NOT go out and start selling games/systems as Ive done that years back and I still regret it to this day. I actually sold my Halo Special Edition XBOX. It sounds like you are under quite a bit of stress and after what you told us about you brother Im guessing any of us here would be the same way. Seriously when I get really stressed I pop out my Nintendo games, play some Mario Kart or Kirby or something easier and just enjoyable. I got to take a break from the more hardcore stuff myself from time to time. Heck download Magic Orbz on PS3, it got to be one of the most relaxing games Ive played.

I was thinking the same thing.
Nintendo games are very relaxing.
Right now,i'm starting to get better though and I still haven't even played much of FFXIII due to the very slow boring start on the game. lol

I might pop it in and start playing some.
And I might also buy a PSN card and download some games.
