Has anyone seen the Xbox FFXIII ad's for FFXIII?

They got Leona Lewis playing the main theme.

Whats next 50 cent? Seriously.

I'm being turned off this game big time.
And Ad's are supposed to make me buy the game. Fail. Seriously.

@Sean.... I dont really watch TV so havent seen it, thought the FFXIII trailer that hit PSN looks so incredible I will prob pick it up next year. I literally told my wife, "DO NOT BRING HOME ANY MORE GAMES!!!!" 3D Dot Heroes for my Bday in May and thats IT. It will be into next year before I get to FFXIII and God of War 3. I got Dragon Age to play from my bro-in-law and my best friend is about to drop Bayonetta at me when he gets done with it, on top of PSN games coming out. Too much to play and too little time.

Wow... missing out on one of the best gaming experiences on the PS3 (assuming you like JRPGs) because of a bad TV ad. I feel sorry for your loss.

A TV Ad is an odd thing to judge a game by, but it also can't be called one of the best gaming experiences on PS3 until we've actually played it. My interest in this had definitely been waning, and hearing the goofy song in the English trailer and hearing clips from the voice acting for the over-the-top as usual story did not help. But ever since I learned there aren't any towns (at least not until late into the game -- I forget), I've been much more excited for it. .

Wow, didn't know there weren't any (or had so few) towns in the game, but I've not been looking into it much. I did want to buy it first day, but I'm waiting for a while before I pick it up. The town information is definitely a turn off for me though

I did say for JRPG fans.

If you're a fan of Final Fantasy, everything I've seen, read, and experienced (albiet in Japanese) of the game so far points to you liking this one. It'll upset some traditional JRPG fans, as it does do things differently, and obviously it won't appeal at all to non-JRPG fans.

Few-to-no towns in FFXIII, eh? Sounds a bit odd, but I'm up for experimental gameplay. I find it doubtful that the reportedly bad voice acting will really bother me very much, either (which is in a way quite odd, given that I'm an aspiring voice actor myself). I reserve final judgement until AFTER I've played it, at any rate...which is actually part of why I'm glad I DID decide to pick it up at release. It'll be very valueable to have first-hand experience with the game working at GameStop with all this negative talk going around.

Wait, so the lack of towns made you MORE excited about the game? The towns in most FF are some the most memorable places, and a perfect place to relax after a mission and explore for secrets. The no town thing is a huge turnoff for me..

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, and all I've read points me to not liking this game, at least not as much at 7-9. But be that as it may i'm still getting it in about a month, hoping for a pleasant surprise.

The towns in most RPGs feel like a menu system stretched thinly over a much-too-large and poorly structured area, populated with boring people spouting mundane dialog, and 3D RPGs tend to be slower and harder to navigate which heightens the problem for me.

FF1-6 were all right from what I've played because the towns were small, the overhead view made it much easier to navigate, movement is faster, and the dialog is amusingly cheeky. FF7 and after undo all of that, and I would honestly rather just have a menu between combat areas followed by a cutscene instead of having to drag my feet around for the sake of updating my inventory and progressing a plot that I often don't care about -- and usually by having to perform some obscure task.

But even if I were predisposed to towns in 3D RPGs, it's always interesting to see a company try something new. I at first read there'd be no towns at all. Then I read elsewhere that the first town is 20 hours in. So I'm not sure what to expect here, but clearly they play a smaller, or at least different, role, and I'm eager to see how this works out.

Could be InFamous 2...I've heard rumors of that coming sooner than you'd think. It could just as easily be something new from Naughty Dog, though. I dunno...not too long to find out, though, I guess.

I don't get why they are releasing SOCOM and MAG in the same year, that is basically a developer competing with its own game.

if you look at the last image on this site, and youve played MAG, you can see that that vehicle is the EXACT same as the APC in MAG! wow way to go above and beyond with that one....

To be fair, MAG has been something of a flop. Maybe they're hoping SOCOM 4 will fare better. Not that I'm even slightly interested in either.

MAG is NOT a flop. its a new IP and has a strong community! if you havent played the game, dont say anything about it!
