I'm with odd69. I haven't turned it on since Saturday night so I'm just leaving it off until they've officially fixed the problem. I now wish I had expanded my Wii library a bit more. Think I'll check out some VC/WiiWare games.

And I'm just here because nobody goes to the Xbox 360 thread anymore, now that Dark G is gone, and the PSP and PS2 fan threads always die off or get locked.

Seriously, this is easily the most successful Other Gaming Thread on this site, and perhaps the most successful in the site's entire history. I wish other threads could be anywhere near as frequented as this one.

I currently have my PS3 turned off for months, due to the fact I have been playing my Xbox 360 and Wii for months. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all have their own faults. But Sony SCREWED UP BIGTIME. My PS3 is unaffected and it is still off, but I am shocked at this. I'm tempted to not come on PSN for a little while longer and just buy FFXIII for my Xbox 360. Both games are the same anyway. By the way, maybe Slappy should renamed this topic the PS3 and Xbox 360 Fan topic so that we both can talk about anything non Nintendo related (without useless bickering). How could Sony screw something so minor up like that?

@Waltz, I greatly disagree. A calendar? Seriously? Sony's supposedly "Future-proof" console, and it isn't even past-proof?

There's no reason games should be made to check trophies every time they boot up in the first place. This could have easily been avoided. Just creating problems where there don't need to be problems, and it's in no way comparable with the Wiis that bricked last update. Those were unofficially modded and in far lesser numbers.

That'll never happen, as we've already seen any number of times. Isn't there a 360 thread already? If not, you ought to start one.

Adam already touched on the scale of the bricked Wiis, and the Zune isn't as relevant to this as another home console. I can accept that people aren't perfect, but it's not like it's a good thing that thousands or millions could lose or might have lost their Trophies. Everyone will probably get over it and Sony will fix the problem, but I still stand by my opinion "that this is[/was] a ridiculously widespread and [potentially] fatal error."

This one's got me scratching my head...why not check trophies on boot? And when else? I mean granted, given the absolute ???-dom of this problem, it seems like it's a bad idea now...but yeah speaking as a semi-decent programmer who's found countless "whaaa?" bugs in his own work that no amount of foresight could've prevented, I don't see why they would've checked them at any other point. It's a measure of security that was implemented for good reason I'd assume (not gonna pretend I understand the ins and outs of how the PS3 works...doubt anyone else is trying to either)

@Nintendork: You're not the only one to say that, actually. Which model 80gig do you have? Most people reporting than their phat PS3's never broke down have some of the very last models made before the switch to PS3.

@HyperKnuckles: The minimum difference between FFXIII on PS3 and 360 at current is two discs, TWENTY gigs, and the overall quality of the audio and video (it's compressed in a lossy manner on 360). Plus, the PSN issue is already fixed (I'm online no problem as I type this), so it's really no problem.

Actually, FFXIII looks and sounds (much) better on the PS3.

Soo much traffic, Ill try to get my replies in.... to start it want all PS3s as 1 of my Fats crapped and the other was bought 1 month before launch of Slim did NOT crap out. Everythying is fine now in 24 hrs. Sony tech guys did a damn amazing job fixing that one up quickly in my opinion. Screw-ups happen and they fixed it fast. Shouldnt have happened by no means but it did and quickly fixed, no harm done..... Maybe we well get some Free PSN Stuff for it. Y2K2

@MickeyMac and RandomWiiPlayer.... both you guys get a warm welcome in this thread anytime you want from me. I know for me and some others here for sure all own multiple HD systems and though Microsoft isnt my #1 choice for gaming I still love some of the games on the 360. I think all fanboys crap aside, because Im not one obviously, but a lot of your 360 diehards are really into American Gaming and a lot of PS3 fans get into more JRPG or off the wall style games, wich is also why a lot of PS3 owners seem to be big Nintendo fanatics as well from what some media outlets were claiming awhile back. I have deep respect for all gaming, especially 3rd party because they are the ones that really stick there necks out with little money and make great games. PSone and PS2 had loads of 3rd party games and that is how I got hooked on Playstation brand. Sony realy supports 3rd parties and sticks behind them even, if they think it might not be the best thing, and I respect that 100%. I dont really care what company is on top, I care about the game, and the guys/gals who put all their effort and time into creating our hobby we all love so much. Fanboys....... sometimes I wonder just how much they really care about the games and gaming in general?

@buffaloboob.... your free to post here, but just know that bashing or coming here to start crap will have you reported to a mod promply, go to the first post in this thread and TBD herself stated it. For the record, the Wii update bricked my brothers Wii and he has had 3 Wiis bricked now to boot. No company is perfect, computers will and always have had problems. The PS3 and 360 both have so much power and do so much its inevitable they have problems.

.... oh one more thing..... this now is my Final Straw that I will never again bore myself to death over a trophy. Unless its a fun game I really want a Platinum on, aint happening. lol.
