Why did this have to happen? Well, Microsoft came along and thought they could just buy one of Nintendo's best second party developers... and they did. When Nintendo bought Rare, they only bought 49%. Then, years later, Microsoft bought 51%. Nintendo immediately sold their 49%, probably because they didn't want to be working so closely with someone who's also working closely with a competitor. This has really crapped all over the Wii. The Wii would be a different system if it had a new Perfect Dark game as well as all of Rare's old games for the virtual console (Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Battletoads, Wizards & Warriors, etc.) It would have helped fill a void that the Wii has been missing. So I wonder, is there any solution to this dilemma? I assume the biggest factor is whether or not Rare has a contract with Microsoft and if they do then how long do they have to stay with them? I'm sure Rare is doing fine, financially, what with being owned by Microsoft and all, but I think they'd have a much better reputation had they either stayed with Nintendo or at least became a third party developer. Which, ideally, I would love to see Rare be a third party developer. It seems like they'd like to make games for the different systems and I'd like to see them do that.
I'm well aware that Rare made a good business decision. I covered that at the beginning of my post. The point I'm getting at is that it sucks for Nintendo fans and it would be cool if there was a way to fix that.
Hey, did you heard. Rare left Nintendo to work on X-Box games! Boy, the fanboy are sure to get mad now.

Judging by Rare's recent output, I don't think Nintendo has anything to cry about...
Viva Pinata 1 and 2 Banjo nuts and bolts Kinect sports 1 and 2 Dirge Kong racing Kameo Perfect dark zero
There is arguably one bad game out of there recent output. (Perfect dark zero) and e en that was a technical marvel at the time and had a good soundtrack. But then agaain this is a rare thread.

However, all of those games were average. Which is unlike the old Rare, which is Kage's point. Rare hasn't done anything worthwhile since the N64 era.
What amiss them average is it that they aren't on nintendo platforms. Because while the rest are iffy only a major you know what would called the VP games average. There is a huge difference betwwen something not being your cup of tea and something being Meh. Also what criteria is it average. If were looking at the aspects that make up a game surely most are above avergae. I mean the customization in Banjo and the physics are really great and the game is a graphical and musical wonder. But its not a platformer so its somehow a bad game.
But ive had this convo at least 10 times on this forum so ill leave it at that.
