You did it, all monster parts have been identified and the beasts driven back. Congratulations!
A total of 82 people played this month, even though it was one of the hardest riddles of all. And exactly ONE USER really impressed me, as he actually managed to get EVERYTHING RIGHT. Wow!
Who was that? You'll see at the end of the post, but first we'll look at the correct answers game by game. There's a lot of text and images, so get ready to scroll.

So then, here's a winners ceremony: Congratulations to Earthpainting from ResetEra, I did not expect anyone to get full score... I truly am impressed!
Also respect to residentgrigo, AuraPaladinne, J.R., Lifer, Illusionary, The_BACH, Scorplian, Biscuit and Splunge - together you are the Top 10.
Thanks to all for participating and see you next time!
@lifer: I wanted to tell you that EarthPainting submitted his winning entry before residentgrigo started to give hints to illusionary... who as you can see didn't keep up with you regardless. I'll keep an eye out so nobody gets put at a disadvantage in the coming riddles.
@Mr_Horizon Haha, the only person BabyYoshi beat was Yoshi. 🤪
I got the slime right (with a special thanks to @Varazadi), so I’m guessing the other one was Resident Evil on Monster A? I didn’t guess 3, but did it count?
For a while I had just the timestamp decide any ties, so the earlier submit gets the better position. I never liked that, so I came up with "weighted points".
This means that no correct answer is worth exactly "1 point", but instead it is a little bit more, depending on how hard that answer was (I use a formula to determine the exact amount).
Example: In the last quiz, getting "Resident Evil 3" right got you 1.0110 points. But getting the toughest answer, "Halo 2", earned you 1.0951 points instead.
It rarely happens that two people have exactly the same answers right & wrong, so the five people who scored 14 points were still easily distinguishable by their decimal places - have a look at the full score:
14.6353 Mangamaniac2171
14.6109 fedprod
14.6060 Don Como
14.5902 Havie
14.5841 JoakimZ
In the odd case there is a complete tie... I still fall back to the timestamp, so the earlier bird catches the better position. I hope that answers your question!
Just saw July’s theme, Retro Pixel. 🤦♂️
Well, it's all about balance. The first quiz of the year featured mostly new games, the second one was a mix, the third one was old games (but focused on a single platform, DOS), and the last round also a mix of old and new. The next one will be a bit on the retro side again, but way more focused on consoles... don't worry, there is another round with newer games on the horizon.
I didn't do too badly there considering how difficult that round was. I'm kicking myself for not recognising Raphael the Raven though, I knew I'd seen those feet before somewhere (I thought they were Daffy Duck's at first)
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Mr_Horizon Wow, that’s a very in depth description. So I actually beat someone else as well! Thank you for putting so much effort into these quizzes and clues and results!
Good there’s one with newer games coming soon! I only started gaming on the Wii/3DS, and I still didn’t own many games. It wasn’t until I started using this site that I know about most games. So I’d say about half the games on Switch.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@Dogorilla You’re right. You didn’t do too badly. I did.
I can’t believe I got Tom Nook wrong. 🤦♂️ I didn’t pay attention to the eyes as I assumed it was the Slime’s eyes and didn’t even look at the legs. 🤦♂️
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@BabyYoshi12 Tom Nook was one of the few that I recognised straight away haha. Though I didn't actually realise those were his eyes until I saw the answers.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
Every year this classic makes a return - characters from mostly older games, zoomed in until you can count every single pixel. Can you tell the game from a screen fragment with just a 20x20 resolution?
Similar to the "DOS classics", most games were released in the 1990s, with few exceptions into earlier or later decades. This round has a much bigger focus on consoles though.
You can enter either the name of the game or the name of the character.
Thanks for sharing the info about EarthPainting's submission. Feels good to know. I wish I had made the best guesses on the other games, would have caught World of Warcraft at least...
The new quiz is the hardest yet for me. I can aim for 20 maybe...
A great weekend to you all, I hope you and your family have gotten around Covid-19 so far and can still find something to enjoy this summer... like the retro pixel quiz round maybe? ^_^
So far 24 people have joined, three of which from here. The average score is single-digit, so it's again not an easy round. However, every game has been guessed correctly at least once! But even the single user who managed to reach the 20-point-barrier is still missing several answers to get a full score.
So then, time for some clues!
1) In the first three rows, we got three well known 1on1 fighting games. 2) Game number 2 is the newest title of this round, having been released just two years ago. The oldest game on the other hand is 41 years (!) old. 3) Three games from the first two rows have appeared in episodes of the "AngryVideoGameNerd". 4) A total of six games have also been released on the Commodore Amiga (not always in the exact same version), one of which even as an exclusive.
