I've always liked Rockstar but until Red Dead Redemption I was never a huge fan of the games they made (if that makes any sense). This looks like this could be their best game yet, and is likely the first game I could see being my game of the year (Portal 2 is close but no cigar).
Bought this game today and played it non stop for 6 hours. So yeah...pretty dang good. Don't go in expecting GTA: 1946--this is a Team Bondi game, after all--but once you get passed that initial shock and start your first murder case, it's amazing. I'm typing this on my iPod so I won't go into too much detail, but I can post some detailed impressions later if y'all are interested

Got it just a few hours ago. I haven't gotten too far (on my first case at the new station), but it's pretty damned good. I dislike that you can't skip cutscenes even after watching them (may seem like a dumb complaint for such a story driven game, but after replaying a case 6 times you'll see why it's an issue). I also dislike that upon catching a suspect (who I didn't know I would be chasing until it happened), I had no choice but to interrogate, even though I had more I wanted to investigate. I've only gotten to the interrogation room once, so it may have just been a tutorial thing.
As for what's good? Lots. But read some reviews for all of that
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
Been hearing mixed reviews about this. Looks disappointing, to be honest.
Umm...what reviews have you been reading? Last I heard, a 91 on Metacritic is pretty dang good.
From friends, and people who aren't paid to review. Not to bash reviewers, (I'm one myself), but there's always a difference in hearing what the average gamer has to say compared to a reviewer, so I like to hear from both sides.

I heard that the open world was a disappointment, like Mafia 2.
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
The open world isn't disappointing. It's massive. It's just you aren't allowed to go crazy and kill everyone because you're a good guy. Besides, it's not about the open world. You shouldn't go in expecting Grand Theft Auto.
I have not even heard anyone comparing it to GTA as yet. But no, the complaint is not that the world is not large, or whatever else may come to your mind. The complaint is that there does not seem to be much to do in it. Just like Mafia 2 as stated above. I am personally inclined to believe that this is true, but that does not mean it is a bad game. Red Dead had an awesome world.

I love how the cases are clearly worth replaying as you can change certain aspects of them or complete them quicker (as I honestly can't figure out when they're lying or not to save my life using the facial expressions). Clever replayability is awesome.

Only comparison I have heard is the looks.
Need to get this game.
