Funny thing is, Crysis 2 almost looks bad compared to the PC version, and especially compared to Crysis 1, which was absolutely beautiful <3.

the game looks really rough and the upgrade will look significantly better.
of course it'll look better technically and yes the wii version has a some cringe-worthy visuals (looking at your character's hands and arms twist while aiming is gruesome) but technical graphics aren't everything. when i say the new shots look worse i mean aesthetically worse, eurocom had excellent taste in their visual design on the wii and it doesn't seem to be translating to HD in most of these shots. the jungle and severnaya levels look ugly compared to the wii version, hell, some of those severnaya shots even look worse than the wii version technically : http://i54.tinypic.com/24119ts.jpg -that's not pretty. the game comes out in two months so those aren't early build shots either.

What? The aesthetics in that shot are awesome. It's cold. The environment is meant to be cold.
I wonder if all of the praise for GE is by people that grew up on the original. I didn't, and GE is just another CoD to me.
That's exactly how I felt with the game. I didn't grow-up playing Goldeneye on the 64 and the Wii version's multiplayer just felt like a poor-man's Call of Duty that was stripped of everything that made Call of Duty a little bit interesting. Plus it was always extremely laggy for me even with my internet connection always being the strongest in lobbies for the most part. The Single Player in Goldeneye Wii was better than Call of Duty's in my opinion though and was the only redeeming quality of the game for me.
I could not agree more, and I DID grow up with the original. Goldeneye is a poor man's Call of Duty. Don't get me wrong, Goldeneye for the Wii is not a bad game, but it is no where near the bar of quality that Goldeneye for the N64 set in the late 90's. Which is probably to be expected, thats hard to beat.
The original debuted at the perfect time. It was pushing realism in an era when realism was the minority, so it still had all the fun loving charm of videogames of that era. The ability to carry a ridiculous number of guns, stupid and predictable AI, the occasional unfairly difficult scenario, silly cheat codes, and sometimes unclear objectives that would force you to explore all corners of a level. Goldeneye for the Wii lacks most of these, which is both good and bad. In order to create a relevant FPS, many of the modern shooter conventions had to be included, which is totally understandable and even necessary to a degree. But it just doesn't feel like Goldeneye when you're limited to 3 guns and a map marker is leading you everywhere and you can't play with fun gadgets from M16 because your smartphone does everything. The magic is gone. XD
to be fair that wii shot is uprendered to HD but that's nothing the ps/360 version couldn't do. i think the game would look much better if they had simply done just that, uprendered what was already there instead of overhauling the visuals so much, cause the new visual design doesn't have as much character. (so far, at least.)
The only thing I don't like about it's look (and a few other HD titles) is the extra layer of gloss they tend to put on surfaces that would not have that shine spot irl. Fingers, and faces shouldn't be as reflective as som HD games depict them o.0
@kkslider5552000 Ha, yes it would be if I would've done that, but thankfully I'm brighter than to pull that one. I'm no fanboy of any company and I've got quite the 'critic' eye that makes sure I don't pull off a stunt like that.
@romulux I do see where you're coming from here, but I will say this from experience. When these low-res games get translated into HD (e.g. Sly Cooper Collection, Dead Space Extraction), the screenshots look significantly worse than what the final game does when put into action. Also, there will usually be sections of the games that will look significantly better than others, but what I'm most curious about here isn't graphics, but gameplay. I just hope that it plays a bit faster and smoother than it did on Wii.
@Ravage Yes, when the joke about NASA couldn't even run the game on the highest specs was floating around I didn't believe it. That was until I saw it running on the highest specs and stood there jaw-dropped in amazement!

Hahahaha, yeah. Your 25 hours is nothing compared to mine
But yes, this is like the Sly Cooper HD game and the like. It looks better. But the models are pretty much the same. It's still good looking and the original Wii version still holds up. Minus the coating layer of HD. But that's about it.
yeah slapshot i'll have to wait until seeing it in motion to know how it really looks. i am more worried about how it'll play with 16 people than the visuals, since small levels like archives will probably be completely different and there's a risk of ruining the fun of a few people crashing into each other in a tiny map.
@Rom Heh... I can see the developers rebuilding the maps so that they can accomodate more players... yet again, Wii gets lumbered with a dumbed down version... that was once an exclusive title. Has Wii got anything left now? Except for Metroid, Zelda, Mario and Kirby?
The HD visuals look horrible too, WAY too much gloss. Even his fingertips look like shiny pieces of metal, I swear my fingertips don't ever look that shiny.
I'm not annoyed that PS3/360 are getting GoldenEye too, what ticks me off is that a once exclusive Wii title gets beaten again with an upgraded version for the PS3/360... only had it for a year before it gets shoved over to HD world. The Sony and Microsft guys may had to wait a whole year before they got GoldenEye, but they got a better version than what we've got... AGAIN! steam comes out of ears
and to be truly mean, I hope it suffers from constant freezing, host quits and awful lag... however, knowing the market as it is, they'll get no lag or freezes and have host migration
EDIT: I'd like to show you something and may I refer to 0:52
my favorite part of this is how many people want to buy a ps3 or 360 because of this. it did not work the other way around when the HD fanboys were complaining about this being a wii exclusive, i doubt many of them ever considered buying a wii for goldeneye... then again, they're not starved much for FPS like wii owners are.
@komicturtle92 Before I started writing for these sites (others as well) I had the time to dump hundreds of hours into games. Heck, I dropped over 100 hours into Monster Hunter Tri alone, but now I barely have the time with work, wife and writing to even play my own games anymore. I'm not complaining, as I get to play/try some really creative Indie Titles and other games across all platforms at no charge to myself, but it is very time consuming and when you spend weeks playing crap games for reviews when you've got games like GoldenEye Wii, Final Fantasy XIII, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit just sitting there laughing at you, while you're wasting hours away on Deadliest Catch or Madden Football 3DS instead, it can be a real bummer!
Oh, and I saw that trailer yesterday. Pretty neat. But I have to say- it looks identical to the Wii version. Only slightly better. Either way, I'd still choose to play it with a Wii mote and Nunchuk. There needs to be Move support!!
@komicturtle92 It is the same game, there are just AI improvements, graphical improvement, etc. to the game now that Eurocom has the power of the HD systems to play with. Oh, and Move support has already been confirmed!

I really don't see graphical imrprovements- in regards to character models and structure. Not saying it looks terrible, but it doesn't look like a game you'd see on 360 or PS3, that's all. Shows that even Wii can hold up against it's bigger competitors, really (I remember playing in the Jungle mission and how impressed I was by how it looks- lush, green and gorgeous. All about art direction).
Move support is a plus. Have to see if it's "as" good as it was on Wii. Keeping the control adjustments is all you need to make the controls perfect for you, as you can ask those who played GE extensively and played around with the sensitivity and what not to tickle their fancy.
It is good to see more FPSs that don't suck with next gen online options and things at least!
That might make it a bit better.

They should make this for Wii.
if this was Capcom, it would totally happen
oh and the complaining about exclusives. Goldeneye Wii was good but cmon. The only must have exclusive that is no longer an exclusive is No More Heroes. And if it wasn't for the bosses that game would have been a joke compared to the sequel anyway.
