So we waited 14 years for this. In all honesty I was a fan of the Duke Nukem games back in the days but now I don see me trying this one. Maybe they should have just left this game in the development stage.

I'm not surprised by the review scores at all - I knew they'd be low regardless of how the game is. You can't review a game that has been fourteen years in development and give it a high score and say it's everything we've been expecting. I've heard from people who have played the game that it is amazing - reviewers say the complete opposite. I think this is one I'm just going to have to judge for myself - from what I've seen I can't see how the low scores are justified but I'll give it a play and see what I think.
Wow, two stars, huh? And the reviewer pretty much panned it, too. That sucks for fans of the series who had to wait fourteen years for this game...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
In all honesty I just think the idea of Duke is outdated. Yeah it was great and cutting edge 14 years ago with its toilet humor and what not but that was in a time before games like GTA 3, Manhunt, etc. So now its not that cutting edge. I am sure some people are going to say it was worth the wait that maybe so especially when compared to the other games in the series but in all honesty the only people who are really going to be playing this game are people who are familiar to the series. I can't see to many younger gamers playing this game.
"Joystiq home of the dumb reviewers!" Never liked Joystiq. I have the demo and find the game amazing. Just the running a tad annoying.Online will make it 5x better i know.

And can you go a little faster?!
Between that review and the Conduit 2 review I say with all sincerity that Joystiq has the worst writers of any popular gaming site.
I'm not commenting on the quality of the game (which didn't interest me in the first place) but... wow. Way to prove the assumption that games journalists scrape the very bottom of the barrel.
Saw a livestream of VGA (Video Games Awesome, not that horrible award show) playing it. They are usually optimistic and were looking forward to it and even they thought it was a real dissappointment. I mean, it appeals to me more than most FPSs since it still looks kinda fun but it's one of the extremely rare times I can say the gameplay doesn't look next gen at all. Very basic, some cool stuff but nothing amazing and it doesn't compare to Bulletstorm at all. Should have been a budget title.
It seems to have kept a few of the old school elements and added in new ones, but only the bad of each. Hours of watching cutscenes, turret sections of holding a button to shoot guys, bad vehicle handling, 100% linear, regenerating health, 2 weapon system, sections of zero music where there should be some, you walk slow, the Duke gets tired of sprinting, 2 weapon system, terrible enemy variety... Worst of all, the Duke gets absolutely hammered to the point where you can't see $h*t after one beer! Gameplay mechanic makes sense, super blurry vision is just annoying Also, the PC version seems to have software enabled mouse smoothing which cannot be turned off. Oh, and you can carry only two weapons at a time.

On the bright side, it can be fun. Increasing your maximum ego is a neat mechanic (sometimes inconsistent however), which is hampered a bit by the linearity and regenerating health aspect. It can be funny and there is some neat stuff to play with.

It's fun, and I love the ego system. Sad about only having 2 guns and there being zero exploration, though. All in all, hype and long development cycle aside, it's only like a 7-7.5 out of 10

Guys, don't take one reviewers word for it, especially with this type of game. The game is actually getting very mixed reviews from 2/10 all the way to the 9/10 range.
I don't care if it gets a 0/10, I'm still going to be renting it on my Gamefly, and snatching it up when the price drops down a bit as well.
It's freaking Duke Nukem, oh, and the demo rocked!

@Slapshot: I dont know I just think Duke Nukem is a bit dated now and maybe I was expecting something better for being in development for 14 years. I think they should have at least marketed this game as a bargin title or maybe an XBLA/WiiWare/PSN title.
I will just see how it goes once its out and see.

I don`t believe that the "idea of Duke" is outdated at all, especially considering it`s the new ideas that seem to be mostly at fault. I blame Call of Duty

Judging by the demo, I'm not surprised it got crappy reviews. Having only two weapons at a time and regenerating health is not Duke Nukem, that's called every other shooter on the market.
