I grew up with Sonic (mostly the Adventure games first then classic) but I've been out of playing the games since Shadow the Hedgehog (GCN).
So I haven't played much modern Sonic, except for Colors, which I didn't really like.
I heard so much negativity about newer Sonic games that I feel like I'm not missing out haha!
I just heard Generations is the only good modern Sonic game to come out.
I'm just hoping Sonic Team makes another good Sonic game again so I can get back into the series. It's been so long, and I've just been replaying all the old stuff.
What do you guys hope for in a new Sonic game? I'm hoping more classic sonic with some adventure^^ and PLEASE hire a new VA for Sonic!!! idk why his current voice makes me cringe...it's just not Sonic :/
Bring back the Chaos...also, make sure that it's good (the fact that they're willing to miss the 25th anniversary gives me hope that they've learned from their mistakes with '06 and Boom).
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I'm actually confident that Sonic Team will do something great this time. Generations was excellent (IMO the best 3D game by quite a bit, and close to the greatness of the 2D games), so they've shown they can still do it. They've also had years to work on this title, with their last game (Lost World) having been released almost 3 years ago, and by releasing their anniversary game in 2017 it seems like the game isn't been rushed (which is usually one of their biggest problems).
That said, whether it's good or bad I'll probably end up playing it anyway, to be honest...
Well of course I'm excited, being Blue_Blur! Sonic's my favorite game series, and I've enjoyed all of the Sonic games I have played. I'm optimistic that this next game will be good, since Sonic Team has had time to work on it since Lost World released. Plus, the game not releasing until 2017 gives them a lot more time, as well. I'm hoping it'll be Modern Sonic; some more Unleashed-style day stages would be awesome!
anything that bug free and not glitch would be an awesome Sonic Game for me.
a chaos garden would be nice too. (that would be a 1+ for me )
My Top 9 Favorite Games of All time.
1. Judgement
2. Baldur's Gate 3
3. Bully (Rockstar)
4. Person 4 / Golden
5. Sonic Adventure 2
6. Xenoblade X
7. Ape Escape 2
8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
9. James Bond 007 Nightfire
I'm always excited for the next non-mobile Sonic game. I hope it continues the Unleashed/Lost World tradition of not continuing traditions. Except speed and homing attacks.
I want to see what kind of Sonic game it is first. Sonic's been all over the map in terms of gameplay and has had several different styles with varying amount of speed, platforming, and exploration. I can't get excited for a new Sonic game until I see which of those elements get emphasized. In particular, I'm hoping for a satisfying amount of speed, that's what defines Sonic and sets him apart from other IPs.
The last Sonic game I enjoyed was Sonic & Knuckles back in the Sega Mega Drive days.
For me, all the 3D Sonic games are mediocre, even the supposedly best 3D Sonic game, Sonic Adventure, on the Dreamcast. I don't like how it feels on rails and 'automated' compared to the full control you felt in the 2D Sonic era.
I played the demo for Lost World, and it was terrible in every conceivable way. The only positive thing I can think of to say about Lost World is that the visuals are quite nice.

Its probably gonna be mediocre. Every time Sanic tries something new, Sonic Team never seems to get it right on the first try.
In Sonic Adventure (1st jump into 3d), it was very rough around the edges but atleast it was enjoyable.
In Sonic Unleashed(1st jump into boosting in 3d), it is a mixed bag not because of the night time stages, but the overrated daytime stages were incredibly linear and shallow in depth
In Sonic Lost World (A weird straying away from the formula again) Has awkward controls and poor level design.
If Sonic team is making something new for the formula so early, its probably not gonna be too impressive.
Didn't they get Sonic Generations right though? I never got to play it but I hear good things about it. Hopefully they will use a formula similar to that.

I've played the 360 and 3DS version of Generations, and it did not disappoint! The level designs were nice, as well as the controls. I wouldn't mind another Generations, but maybe not for a while; I would like there to be a few more different games first to include new levels to keep the "Generations" theme going, and not just other levels from games that were already used.
Whether it's a new formula or an old formula, I'm still optimistic about this one.

I have no idea why they didn't continue with Generations. It was their best 3D game in both sales and quality, so naturally they should've continued in that direction. Instead, they reinvented the wheel yet again with Lost World and Boom.
Ehh. If it returns to any style of gameplay, I would hope for the Sonic Adventure style of controls. That hasn't been done in nearly ten years now. (It was attempted poorly in Sonic O'Sicks.) It would be a good idea to use that kind of controls if Sonic Team is concerned with winning back people's respect (which I don't necessarily think they need to be, but whatever), because it's a tight enough control scheme yet lacks the wacky button combinations of Sonic Lost World, hence the appeal is broader than that game's. (I remember a goal of Sonic Team in Lost World's development being to give players more reliable control over Sonic than in Unleashed, Colors, and Generations, which had relatively slippery controls that made precision jumping difficult. The thing is, the Sonic Adventure games didn't have that problem.)
I'd be fine with the Chao Garden returning as long as it isn't required for 100% completion. The Chao emblems are now the only thing standing between me and Green Hill in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The Chao themselves I have no problem with.
