Topic: Ace Attorney Thread

So, with the upcoming Capcom showcase, what do you guys think of the chances of seeing some Ace Attorney-related news? DS/ 3DS Ports, new spinoff, new mainline, etc. It seems like Capcom showcases mostly focus on already announced games, but I could see them announcing some new stuff this time around considering this is what would be their big E3-era showcase.

@StarPoint Feels like we should be due for ports of games 4-6 sooner rather than later with the recent closure of the 3DS eShop. Need to get those games playable on more systems. Think we'll see that before we see a new mainline game even though it's already been forever since the last one.

@BenAV Yeah I think it would be strange for them to announce a new mainline game without porting 4-6 first. The last one was in 2016, which is crazy to think about (unless you count DGS2 which was in 2017), but I do think we're probably gonna have to wait a bit longer to get any news on a potential AA7.

@StarPoint I suppose the other thing to consider is that the Ghost Trick port releases later this month and they might be satisfied with just having that as our Axe Attorney-like game for the year.

@BenAV That's definitely a possibility as well. In fact, I'm sure that this upcoming showcase will have some brief details on Ghost Trick, just reconfirming a release date + bonus features.

The Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is set to release on Switch and other platforms in Early 2024!!! This trilogy includes Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice. I’m so happy that more people will be able to play these games now! Strange how it’s not coming out until 2024 but I can’t complain too much when it comes to modern Ace Attorney releases.

I'M GOING TO F***ING CRY GUYS

I was really hoping for this before there was any update on Ace Attorney 7 - though ideally (at least for me), that could wait a bit longer until after they re-release AA Investigations together with an official localization for AAI2. And maybe a port of the Layton crossover for completion's sake.
On a different note, I really hope they take the chance to fix a few typos from Dual Destinies' original release.

@BrazillianCara I bet those will be fixed since they are adding new languages and other little details.

Been wishing for it for ages so I'm thrilled. Got my hopes up seeing Spirit of Justice footage in the intro, but still didn't think it would happen with Ghost Trick about to come out. Soon as the music hit I knew what it was though.

@BrazillianCara Same here, these definitely needed to be accessible for everyone before continuing the story with AA7. With the games being released in early 2024 and the length of the trilogy as a whole, I could say that we could definitely be due for AA7 news next year, maybe around summer time. This lines up with the Capcom leak that happened a few years ago now, where the 4-6 ports were intended to fill in an open spot between the DGS localization and AA7 news. I think Covid was responsible for delaying their plans since I think there was supposed to be AA7 news in 2021. But hopefully this means we aren’t too far off from a new game.

Yeah, Dual Destinies had a shocking amount of typos. But I’m sure they’ll fix those up since they fixed typos in the Phoenix Wright trilogy too.

@Professor_Plumber Funny enough I've kind of long been hoping for these much moreso than 7 myself. Kind of just wanted the whole main series to be readily available in a convenient modern format before being concerned about seeing it continue. That said now that we have that coming I do definitely want 7 news soon-ish.

... Don't really care about Investigations (consider the first one possibly the weakest game in the series, it or GAA1, and not played the second) so not as fussed about it but I'd get it if they ported it.

I love that they're calling it the Apollo Justice trilogy, and acknowledging that much of the last two games focused on Apollo.

Between this, Ghost Trick, the original trilogy, and The Great Ace Attorney, I'm thrilled that nearly all of the Ace Attorney major works are all available on Switch, and hopefully all in a physical form.
All that's left is the two Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigation games. I enjoyed the first game, but the second game was superb and deserves localisation to this day!

@Professor_Plumber I think it just makes sense for them to port the old games first, especially with the loss of the 3DS eShop. Capcom will probably give people enough time to play through this trilogy before releasing AA7

@RupeeClock Same here! The theme of this trilogy as a whole is a bit messy; the focus shifts from Phoenix to Apollo to Athena and vice versa. But I do consider the trilogy to be Apollo’s, and I’m glad Capcom is acknowledging it in this way.

I also think it’s great that most of Takumi’s work is pretty much being immortalized now. They’ll be on PC and the current systems pretty much forever now, and hopefully Nintendo’s next console will be backwards compatible so they’ll stay that way.

One thing that is unfortunate is that I'd have to imagine they're going to leave out the Asinine Attorney cases, since they left them out of GAA and the mobile version of SoJ, but while fun those are pretty throwaway anyway.

I'm very thankful that Capcom continues to save games that were lost to the 3DS/Wii U eshop shutdowns (the Battle Network collection also falls into this category). I hope we see more of this, not just Capcom but others too.

@Grumblevolcano I've been hoping for awhile that Nintendo will switch gears to porting 3DS stuff to Switch. I'd happily trip over myself buying up stuff like DKC Returns, Awakening, Fates, Kid Icarus, Link Between Worlds, Samus Returns, and 3D Land despite owning all of them.

... Not New Super Mario Bros. 2, they can keep that one. Replayed it a year or two back and it is baaaad compared to U.

I can’t wait to play all these games!
