Topic: Ace Attorney Thread

Glad these games are coming for those who haven't played them, and I also like that they're calling it the Apollo Justice trilogy (even though 5 and 6 have Phoenix Wright in the title). I can live with the fact that they didn't announce any new (to me) AA games seeing as Ghost Trick is coming soon and I haven't got round to Great Ace Attorney yet, but I'm definitely hoping we'll get the Investigations games on Switch to complete the set. (Well, complete apart from the Professor Layton crossover, and even that's not entirely out of the question now.)

I'm pleased about this announcement, even if I did cave and buy the three games in the 3DS eShop doom sale. Not sure if I'll double-dip since those cost peanuts anyway - I'd prefer to have it all on Switch. I think it'll depend on if there's any type of physical release with English support. I had no qualms with importing the original Ace Attorney Trilogy on Switch.

Apollo Justice Trilogy releases on January 25th! (WHY IS EVERYTHING COMING OUT IN JANUARY HELP ME)

The AJ Trilogy is easily my most anticipated release of next year so seeing them put so much effort into making it as bang-for-your-buck as possible makes me so damn happy man. Pre-ordering it the second it's available!

The addition of the custom scene maker is straight-up inspired by objection.lol which is awesome! Really love all the extras they’re including!

It's still weird that they're calling it the Apollo Justice Trilogy. It makes sense for two of those games, but Apollo Justice is the third (maybe even fourth?) most important character, at best, in Dual Destinies. It is not his part of the trilogy. Dual Destinies was very clearly the series backtracking to making Phoenix Wright the main character because people weren't as enthused at Apollo Justice and probably to some extent Phoenix's characterization in that game (which after Spirit of Justice looks like a very stupid decision).

It's almost like if you called the Christopher Nolan Batman movies the League of Shadows trilogy.

I mean, Apollo Justice Trilogy isn't really incorrect, as those are the three sequential games in which he is one of the main characters. And it certainly rolls out better than "Ace Attorney: The Second Trilogy" or "The Dark Age of the Law Trilogy".

I just picked up the game today and I’m finally seeing why people like the series so much!

Yeah I do understand why they do it for convenience and marketing, but its just awkward compared to the actual Phoenix Wright trilogy. Especially since I'm pretty sure the 5th game in this series was supposed to be about Apollo Justice as the protagonist at one point, so it feels like Phoenix Wright kinda stole Apollo's trilogy from him. (also why I consider Spirit of Justice to be Apollo Justice 2 in disguise)

Doesn't help that the last game ends on a cliffhanger, so I feel like the next game will also be more about Apollo then Dual Destinies.

On the topic of that cliffhanger... I know I'm probably asking too much, but a dream scenario for me would be for AA7 to tie up any and all hanging plot threads and "missing pieces" from the series (including those people don't really talk about, like the situation in which Phoenix first met Athena that was only alluded to) and confirm the whereabouts of the regulars from the original trilogy/Edgeworth games that haven't shown up yet after the timeskip. And maybe even find a way to establish a more concrete connection with the Great Ace Attorney to tie the whole thing neatly (and I trust the localization team to deal with any setting inconsistencies).

Again, I'm probably asking too much. Especially for a single game... (but maybe a new duology).

I am really excited for AJT, especially since I never played games 4-6, so these are like new games to me lol, I just hope the game isn’t priced at $60, because then my wallet will have a problem with being able to afford the launch of the switch 2 lmao

The objection.lol-like animation studio is something I’m actually really excited for, I’ll probably spend a few hours in the double-digits with that, the music player will probably never be used by me since Apple Music and Spotify exist, though the art gallery will probably get some time out of me too
Overall this collection seems like a really great deal!
(Random Nitpick: The textboxes look a bit ugly tbh, I just don’t like the way it’s presented and the color scheme. But maybe that’s just because I’m super used to the PWT textbox since I got 100 hours in that)

Same here; I've been dying to play 4, 5 and 6 from the moment I first beat Trials and Tribulations nearly 2 years ago (god where does the time go) and it's still a bit unreal that I'll finally be able to experience them in just 4 months time! 😊

Also, in regards to your queries about the price, according to certain sources such as PlayAsia, it seems like AJ Trilogy will be about $50 if early listings are anything to go by (there were also reports that it was going to be $70 which would've been....interesting to say the least, but thankfully those turned out to be nothing but certain retailers jumping the gun).

So far, I’m having a blast!

I finished the first case of AA4, and while it was really great, there is one thing about it that has genuinely infuriated me and has me annoyed.

It’s not hobo phoenix, it’s what he did.

@DiamondCore I think my biggest problem with AJ:AA is just how out of character Phoenix is. He consistently does things that just don’t fit his character. Thankfully, Dual Destinies brings him back on track.
