My best time so far is 1:20.776. That was with Automatic drift, so there's definite scope for improvement. I reckon you've really got to go for a large character on the Torpedo. So long as you can survive the first lap, it's pretty much like a time trial from there on in.

I unlocked a medium bike shaped like a Super Mario World dolphin. My allegiance to Koopa Troopa driving a fish may be about to slip in favour of Yoshi driving a dolphin.

_{btw, is none of this banned by animal rights? And who'd be protected, the animal rider or animal ridee? I think I made up a new word.}

Also, why do half the bikes have a tendancy to drift straight into the wall on Manual setting? I want to love the Dolphinbike but I can't because I keep ending up having to dig myself out of the brickwork D:

I can see why it takes some getting used to, but it's actually really cool once you've got it down. Instead of starting to drift before you get to a turn, you turn the moment you get there. Though it makes snaking much harder I suppose.

UPDATE: Got the hang of cornering with Dolphinbike. Did 3 clean laps. Finished in a time of... 1:31:82. Excellent, 4 seconds slower than the slow character
returns to Koopa Troopa

Just for the record, got a time of 1:20:541 with Rosalina/Bowser Bike, but I won't be submitting it since I didn't do it as Koopa Troopa (who I plan to use religiously on these competitions). Don't mark that down as my time, just wanted to see how fast I could do it with a competent character
