@DomGC it kind plays like VIII so I would say it is a fair representation on the other hand the time limit was kind of meh as the fun is to explore and follow the story
Full game is an RPG with engaging story, lovable characters, tons of exploration, and fun combat.

@JaxonH I believe so too but if that is not the case I will definitely cancel it and buy it on heavy discount later on (I don't pay full 60 for digital games)
Ys IX on Switch is out in North America tomorrow. I'll be picking up my pre-order at GameStop; I traded in a couple games I no longer needed for a discount. I rarely pre-order, but Falcom games don't seem to have long print runs.
Funny thing is, I haven't played Ys VIII yet. I keep going back and forth between which one I want to play lol. I know there are no connections in the series outside of the first two titles, unlike the Trails games.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
@Snaplocket
Same. The tracking said it was supposed to arrive yesterday but it never did, which I think has to do with the holiday.
I have the Ys VIII Switch Collector Edition, and both Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV Collector Editions. I really love the Falcom CE’s released by NIS. I forget if this one has a steelbook though.
@Tyranexx
Is it tomorrow? And here I thought I was going to be getting the game early. For some reason I thought it was Friday alongside MH Stories 2.

@JaxonH IIRC, Ys IX doesn't release in Europe until Friday, so that could be where your wires crossed. A quick Google search also shows that poor Australia has to wait until July 16th. Competing with Monster Hunter Stories 2 in the same week is insane enough, but with Skyward Sword? Crazy!

But if you had ordered physical from Nisa's Europe store, you'd probably get the game a few days early, @Tyranexx .... All my games from them came between 1 day before release & a week early!
@BruceCM I knew It released earlier in the year on PlayStation but was believing it had released on Steam at the same time (and I had it on wishlist there until I bought it on switch)
@BruceCM After import fees, it wouldn't have been worth it in my case. I've not yet been blessed with receiving a game before launch! Though to be fair I rarely pre-order anything lol.

I'm only an hour into the game and I must say that I like this soundtrack more the VIII's. A bit more moody, a bit less vibrant. It really suits the prison-like atmosphere of the town. Good stuff.

@Zeldafan79 all I heard VIII is the better one as the island setting was better than the greyish town/dungeons but Ys IX is more of the same and that is not a bad thing
@Zeldafan79 I've finished both, Ys VIII is slightly better overall but it's really close. Ys VIII would be 92/100, Ys IX would be a 91.
Ys IX
+Larger areas to explore
+New movement abilities are great
+Graphics are better
+Dungeons are more fun
+Lots of call backs to previous games
-Some party members are a bit annoying
-Sometimes there are too many enemies on screen.
-Music not quite as catchy
