I picked this up and am really not too bothered with the graphical issues. That said, I can afford to wait for a patch. In the meantime, I've decided to play Ys VIII instead since I -cough- haven't quite played it yet.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Really like this game so far. It does need a patch though. It runs satisfactory everywhere except the main city.
That aside, it's fun playing at work on my Switch Lite. I started a save on Steam also so I could get the 4K 60 experience, as I do with all Falcom games, but I'm further along on Switch because I play throughout the day at work.
Might hold off for a patch though since MH Stories 2 is out now. I love Ys, but I love Monster Hunter more.

Just passed the 15 hour, rather quickly and surprisingly I feel. Much like VIII I just enjoy spending time in this world Falcom have created. Cozy characters, tight gameplay, a soundtrack that I find very pleasing, etc. Despite the performance dips, I'll probably still look back at Ys IX as a highlight release of 2021.

Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
Just started it last night and I can say I really like this series (it is like confort food to me). So far just got out of the prison but did not find the slowdowns yet
@JaxonH
i remember seeing people mention a day 1 patch but i imagine the info was incorrect since apparently it didnt happen.
am a bit uncertain about whether or not it will get fixed, some of falcoms previous switch ports ended up having some issues which never got fixed (CS3 and 4, the latter had some broken text boxes, both had some performance issues but much worse in 4 iirc.)
@Snaplocket agreed, I played a fair bit last night and I did not find the town that bad as I was expecting from the reports here. It actually it feels more like motion blur than slowdowns as it happens mostly when turning.
@Snaplocket I have been very lucky so far it seems as I am now starting chapter 7 and I had no more issues than at the start of the game (also no crashes at all).
In my book this is a pretty good version of the game
I have now finished the game and have to say I had a really good time with it. My only recommendation to anyone that have not started it yet is to go straight away to hard mode as normal is very easy (I don't remember using health items in battles apart from the final boss) which was surprising as the older games kick your arse
Loved Lacrimosa of Dana, 8 on Switch - had no issues, despite being used to 60FPS games. I tried the demo for 9, which I felt was a very, very mean timed demo. Quite clever for them to put it in areas of the game where the framerate is closer to acceptable.
I felt it was playable, but not something I want to pay a very premium+ price at £55 for when, as people have stated here, other areas in the game really struggle with performance. Thanks to all of you being transparent with the performance experience.
Finished the game. It's a bittersweet finale. On one hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. On the other hand, with Falcom currently working on the next Trails game it may be several years until we see Ys X. I can only hope previous Ys games get ported to Switch in the meantime.
I'd like to have Memories of Celceta on Switch, XSEED. Make it happen.
I want to enjoy this game, but the framerate is really bad in places and I don't understand why.
But maybe I can see past it, it's just that there are so many other new games I'd rather play at the moment. A shame, as I really like VIII and Origin. But I will give it more chances.
@Magician XSEED doesn't do new ports of games, unfortunately. It's probably why NIS was able to snatch the localization rights for their games, since they promised PC/Switch ports.
If NIS had access to the previous Ys games, they'd probably all be on Switch at this point.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
