@Tyranexx I'd say you really kinda do. I'd say a lot of the Colony 6 stuff has some of the more interesting and funny quest lines.

There's no harm in checking the wiki if you want to save time. I do.

@Heavyarms55 Haha, will do in that case! I do suspect that I'll have to advance the story a bit before I can fast travel again, but I'll probably start working on Colony 6 again when I'm able.

@JaxonH haha, nintendobynature rec thread would be the death of me. Trails is on my down the road list. Ive played through both Bayos, astral chain, and I have my backer copy of tw101 sitting and waiting until I'm done with borderlands 1 (but i do have the entire collection), And paper Mario.

I'm also juggling some Indies too. Crossing souls, curse of the moon 2 ( next week), and maybe cross code. I'm drowning in games that I made a hand written list of games i need to finish, and wrote them in order from shortest to longest so i can start making a dent in my backlog. I've gotten a couple down since I wrote it. But man, I'm just playing keep up at this point.

I never really played a xc game until this. Believe it or not, last year i bought torna on sale at target for like 20 bucks but I didnt give it a lot of attention. My goal is to go back and play 2 and X, then finish torna and future connected.

I’ll say this. You‘ll probably want to play Torna right after XC2, just because it tells the backstory of what happened 500 years earlier. Which, the main game will reference many times what happened. But Torna lets you relive how it happened. It’s like the prequel for Star Wars, in a way. And it’s very, very good.

Xenoblade X, maybe hold out on a Switch port. The game is so massive and amazing but, some issues such as with locking you into affinity quests and story quests with no way to cancel. So if it wants you to go find some item in the northwest section of the map, buck up, cause you can’t cancel that innocent affinity quest you accepted. You have to complete it now before you can do any other quests.

@JaxonH hmmm wonder how long until they port it. If i can find a cheap Wii u copy I may just opt for that

I played on Wii U. It’s totally playable still, but if you don’t know about some of those frustrating niggles it can be a real turn off. I suppose as long as I’ve told you that upfront you should be fine.

I started a 2nd play through on CEMU with new HD texture pack and 60fps mod, it’s so good. Only problem is the cut scenes tend to stutter because they can’t hold 60. But you can always just change it to 30. I just think the gameplay feels so good with 60.

When I played X (my first Xenoblade game) I was totally enamored by it. I used to use a rubber band to hold the analog stick sideways and leave the system running because you could earn money all night doing that lol. Such a great game. No game has given me the sense of all and wonder that game was able to pull off. It’s not nearly as story heavy though. But the story is still quite good, IMO. But it’s a grind heavy game with no casual mode to leverage. I managed to beat it by pacing myself at five levels per chapter. There are 12 chapters. That gets you to level 60 by the end boss.

It DOES have a feature that lets you lower a boss’s level difficulty though. And you’ll probably need it because the last few boss fights in the game are very difficult.

Any advice against enemies whose spike effect is sleep or daze? Having trouble beating a monster in Tephra Cave as part of a quest and have a similar issue with a monster in Eryth Sea though not quest related.

If you liked this, you'll almost definitely like XC2 as well. Very similar games on the whole. XCX is awesome too, but a veryyyy different kind of game.

@Grumblevolcano

Use the Monado Purge? That's pretty much the only approach I ever used for spikes

What would people rather see next? Xenoblade Chronicles 3, or Xenoblade Chronicles X-2, if you had to choose?

I’m going to assume Xenoblade Chronicles X will be ported over next. The story ends on a nice cliffhanger and it would give Switch players a chance to experience it before a potential sequel.

If they port XCX, I’d say XC3. But if they don’t port XCX, I think I’d rather see XCX-2. Because I really need that style of open world gameplay on Switch.

@JaxonH As I haven't played XCX, I would love to try that one out before we get XCX-2. So I'm hoping for a port of that to Switch!

I'm really looking forward to a XC3. I really enjoyed XC2, but found it to be a weaker game compared to XC. It was almost too many mechanics and too long (still my longest playtime on the Switch: 100+ hours for the main game and another 30-40 hours for Torna). So I'm hoping they take the best elements from XC, XC2 and Torna to create a new masterpiece.

@JaxonH Xenoblade X-2. The ending is too ambiguous to be considered an ending. Besides the last piece of text we get is 'this story never truly ends'.

@JaxonH I whould love to see x-2 very much.
I like X the most in the franchise so much to explore customizable.
Totally different view on the story, fighting mechanics suits me better.

Yeah the story suffers a bit but still the rest of the game makes is up for me at least.

@JaxonH I'd pick porting XCX over both, doesn't make much sense in a XCX2 if XCX is still trapped on the Wii U but having the XCX style on the Switch would add more variety to the Switch's lineup.

XCX2. Same world, set about a decade after the original. New towns and locations added throughout the world, and new story.

That way they could make it at the same time as they're porting XCX.

@Dezzy Doesn't work particularly well when the effect is topple/daze/sleep but I found out the solution. Resist gems, if you have for example Daze Resist gems that add up to 100% you can't be dazed and this probably works for the other effects too.

Anyway it seems like I've done everything I can in the game except beating superbosses, increasing party affinity for heart-to-hearts, achievements, new game plus and finding the Mane Cat collectible in Future Connected (seems to be very rare). I missed a long timed quest line in Frontier Village because I didn't realize I hadn't found 2 Nopon until it was too late.

Time to return back to Wonderful 101.

I finally had some time earlier to dig into Chapter 12. A lot of decent story and some light exploration was fit into about an hour and a half. Now I've reunited the whole crew and have discovered the Hidden Machina Village. My hope is to thoroughly explore it during my next session and maybe advance the plot a bit. After that, I hope to get back to working on Colony 6.

Most of my crew (barring my latest addition, Fiora) are now at level 56.

Edit: Also, the tracks for both the Hidden Machina Village and The Fallen Arm are top-notch. This game contains one of my favorite OSTs.

Well I marathon'd through Future Connected in a single sitting. Took like 11 hours.

Pretty good. Unfortunately doesn't really do anything from a story point of view. Just a generic story they made up to justify the epilogue existing. There's nothing that connects it to XCX2 or leads on to a future game or anything like that (as people had assumed with a title like Future Connected).

The Bionis Shoulder area is really great though. Really interesting with lots to do and lots of secrets to find. Definitely one of my favorite areas in the whole game.

I can see why they cut it originally though. The whole area feels incredibly similar to Bionis Leg.

Chapter 17 now. Getting close to the ending. Man, this game is so good! To use a worn out word: EPIC! And that twist at the end of chapter 15 is brilliant!

@Quarth That scene gave me chills even four years after playing on Wii. It was so well explained, and well written.
