@Vortexeo
There'll be more reviews coming in for a couple of days.
Not every website has the capability to prepare their reviews before the embargo lifts. Heck, some don't even get review copies and have to wait to play the game until it releases for everyone else.

If my Nintendo store pre-order doesn't arrive on release day, I am going to be so tempted to buy the digital version. Has anyone who ordered the special edition received tracking information?

I came here to ask the same thing. I have not; my order lists that it'll use standard shipping, which is 4-9 business days. Hoping to receive a notification soon....

Disappointed that Heart-to-Hearts have been replaced with your party sitting around a table and talking without voiced dialogue. :/

BOO! BOOOOOO!!!!!

That actually really bothers me. Inconsistent use of voice acting is one of my biggest pet peeves in games, its one of the most awkward, immersion breaking things for me. And considering they had tried to amend that a bit with 2, that's a shame to hear.

They're not really heart-to-hearts anymore.
The party also talks about stuff they heard from NPCs for instance and you sometimes get quests that way.

@Tyranexx I've come to accept that I am going to have to buy a second copy on Friday. I have the whole weekend free (hiding inside to escape a heatwave) and just don't think I can wait a second longer than I have to.

@kkslider5552000 Yep. Voiced H2Hs were one of the best changes in XC2 (alongside nuking the affinity requirements to access them in the first place). Really made the scenes feel more substantial. And I've always liked how often they felt like little side-stories of their own.

@seaboyluca I guess the campsite system in Torna was a prototype for what they included in XC3. And I liked that system well enough. But in a longer game, it's nice to have more moments where specific members of your party can develop their relationships.

I already planned on buying a second copy and i'm going to love it.

Everyone who broke street date on this game is going to hell.

Just put in a pre-order on Amazon.

Since I ordered so close to release, I'm not sure if it'll arrive day 1, but here's hoping.

@kennykenny I'm contemplating the same, but I may wait a week since my weekend is pretty busy anyway; I'd mostly just have time Saturday morning. It'll be hard, but it won't kill me lol. Keeping my fingers crossed though!

@defhed I never got street date people. If someone gets a hold of a game early, fine, but don't spoil it for everyone else. It's like scoping out presents before Christmas, then telling everyone else what they're getting too.

Sounds like Monolith knocked it out of the park on the technical side of things. It'll be nice to play this undocked on my OLED without worrying about horrendous dips in the image quality.

I contacted customer support and was told the game won't even be shipped until release day (USA, for those of us who pre-ordered the special edition).

@Tyranexx it's not fine. They need to delay shipments and release dates in the countries where the problems are isolated. If I go to the store here and they already have inventory, they are going to tell me they can't sell it to me until release date.
Look above.. Nintendo themselves aren't even shipping until actual release day.

That would be the only acceptable situation is Amazon trying to meet release date on shipments in which case people might get it a day or two early.. not an entire week plus leading to the game getting dumped and pirated a week before we can even get our hands on it.. it's bullsh

@defhed I wasn't saying breaking street date was fine, but it's a fact that it has happened and will happen again (Yay capitalism). More like "Okay, someone obtained a copy a tad early. Fine, whatever. Just don't ruin it for anyone else." This is taking into consideration review copies sent by companies, though admittedly those are bound by agreements.

The only workaround I can think of is to fine those who break the street date, but unless it's significantl it probably wouldn't be worth the court fees and time.

@kennykenny Well, that's a bummer. Eh, it won't kill me to wait a week, but I'll have to avoid this thread and half the internet in the meantime.

I'm happy to see them back on this kind of form. XC1 and XCX were among the most technically impressive games on their respective platforms, so it's not like we shouldn't be expecting it from them particularly on hardware that's been out a few years.

XC2 and XC:DE are still nice looking games, of course, but there was always a bit more performance to be got from the Switch.

For what it was, a launch game on a handheld console, XC2 was the most impressive thing of its time.

XC2 came out in December 2017, nearly nine months after the Switch, so it was hardly a launch game.

I won't deny that it's a great looking game (especially docked) and a big step up over any JRPG you could play on the 3DS or Vita. However, the game never gets above 540p when handheld and often dropped as low as 368p, and that's far less than a lot of other Switch games can manage.

For XC3 to be delivering 720p most of the time, without a noticeable degradation in the visuals, is a massive step up. Monolith have clearly been working hard in the intervening years.

Just received a shipping notification from the My Nintendo Store. No usable tracking information yet, but it appears it'll be through UPS. This is interesting since previous items I'd ordered came through USPS....Hopefully that means expedited shipping?

@kennykenny I checked my email after seeing this and had a notification as well. It doesn't specify shipping carrier but indicates it shipped on the 27th with delivery expected in 4-9 days.

edit: so when I check my account on nintendo.com, it indicates shipping as UPS with a tracking number and expected delivery on Aug 1st.
