@JaxonH Have you done all the Juniper content yet? The game takes care not to mention their gender and like Munchlax said, she has a non-binary VA, androgynous design, and several sites refer to them as non--binary.
I understand you might not "agree" with that kind of thing but that's no reason to diss other people who'd like to think that because it better represents them in the gaming industry. You realize people who don't want it to be true are going to look as hard as they can for evidence that suggest that too right? Your argument works both ways.
The splatoon event was understandable, people had wishful thinking, she turned out not to be non-binary, and oh well, she's not non-binary. Those who DIDN'T want them to be non-binary had a bigger reaction than those who did want them to be lol.
Keep in mind, I'm partly on your side. I'll be honest, I don't personally care what the heck a character's gender is within a video game. But I don't put down those who do, I don't fight to prove someone wrong. (Apologies, as I'm not trying to start an argument with any of this, I just saw what you wre saying and thought it to be quite silly).
Agree with everything. I was skeptical at first as to whether Juniper was indeed non-binary because of how much coverage it was getting but looking at lines in the game and then thanks to the datamining you talk about, @Munchlax... alright, awesome, Juniper is indeed non-binary. Now the SJW journalists can stop complaining about how horny the series is, at least.
It's great they didn't force that down players' throats though, or even say it outright in the game. Subtlety is always appreciated, game.
the makers of the game Xenoblade 3 the should have toned it down with the sidequests and spent a little more time with the game's main story even though the final part of Chapter 5 was too damn long.
Whenever I get though Chapter 7 and at the final showdown im taking a break from the game and planning on going back into Xenoblade 1 or redo the beginning of Xenoblade 2 to understand it a little bit better
Juniper is clearly intended to be gender-ambiguous. How you interpret that ambiguity probably differs depending on your personal beliefs as well as the larger cultural space you exist within at the time. I'm guessing the "non-binary" interpretation of the character probably isn't the dominant one among Japanese players, for example.
Nintendo doesn't really like wading into controversial waters, when possible, so I'm guessing they'll likely just allow the text to speak for itself, and people can read the character however they like.
If NoE specifically scouted out a nb actor for the character, I would be open to the argument that, at least in the case of the english script, the character was localized to be nb. Alternatively, the english localizers could just come out and confirm this was their intention with the character.
Outside of additional evidence in those instances, though, I'm inclined to say that the only hard case to be made is that the character's gender isn't meant to be clear to others.
I was able to upgrade the main weapons for 3 of my characters. Still doing sidequests.
Turns out I've completed 118 sidequests, and have 12 that are not completed at this point. I hear there's 183 in the game. That means there's 65 left to do, 53 of which I have yet to accept.
Still, that's progress.

So after 115 hours into XC3 I finally ran into some really bad performance issues. I was fighting multiple elite monsters in a pretty narrow cave. I guess so much was happening on screen that it got to a point where the game completely froze for a few seconds and then it became a literal slideshow (less than 1 fps lol) until one of the enemies died. Afterwards everything just went back to normal but an hour or two after that, the game actually crashed on me.
Again this only happened once during my 115 hours of playing but it was quite scary. Thank goodness for auto saves because I didn't manually save for almost 3 hours lol. I was also playing docked when it happened.
@Vortexeo
Just like previous Xenoblade games on Switch, I tend to close down the game completely after each 5 hours or so. In my experience it improves performance and have never again experienced serious slowdowns or crashes since. Something to do with memory capacity I believe.
Yup, I heard there was a memory leak also. I noticed I had similar issues after playing many days leaving the game running and suspended. Had 3 crashes so far.
Usually restarting the game fixes it, in my experience.

@Mioaionios@Takoda@JaxonH I appreciate the feedback! I think I left it running yesterday when I went out for lunch with my friends so I'll be sure to actually close the game when I leave 😅
I only had one crash and it was in the first couple of hours. I believe I closed the game once too because I felt textures were taking longer to load than normal. In general the frame rate is only crappy whenever there is foliage in my experience
last night i discovered some more sidequests from the City that might be Segaris related but not sure but at least theyre popping up now. but kind of late in the game in Chapter 6 anyway to get Segari's specia traverse skill
With about 125 of them completed now, I've decided to just do the rest of the Ascension Quests I haven't done yet, and any required standard Quests to unlock them, and that's it. Just finished Teach's Ascension Quest and am now doing Valdi's. It's gonna take a bit of time doing the rest, but the content is so good I can't pass it up.

@JaxonH
Lol, I had a good fight with myself near the end trying to decide whether I'd do all side quests first or go ahead and finish the story. Decided to keep the main story for last and I was very happy I did.
@Mioaionios
Ya, I fear once I complete the story I'll just move on back to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.
Definitely want to handle business first before engaging this final quest.
Haven't experienced a bad Hero or Ascension Quest yet, though. Every single one delivers, providing lore and backstories, character development and world building.

I haven't had any crashes, though there are a few places that consistently seem to make the game stutter a bit, from my experience.
For me, off the top of my head it's most noticeable in Colony 4, Colony 30, the City, where it's even briefly froze up twice, and a few of the islands in the Sea. I've never played the game for a single stint lasting more than 2 hours either (though I tend to play 2 or 3 sessions on days I'm off).
Noted, it isn't a big deal to me, but I do notice it.
I'm deep into my second playthrough and it strikes me how much I prefer the Agnian colonies over the Kevesi ones. Which is kind of weird because Agnus represents XC2 and you guys probably know by now how much of a disappointment that game was to me.
I guess it's because the Agnian colonies tend to be more lighthearted, which is welcome given the heavy nature of the game's story. I also like the Agnian designs more with their Asian influences, while Keves is more Western and industrial.
The one Kevesi colony I really love though is Valdi's. I think that one is on par with the Agnians when it comes to providing some levity. And I love Valdi as well of course. He's by far my favorite Kevesi hero.
