I hated those Molybdenum Xe-dom thingies. Oh my goodness I would book it so fast with my tail between my legs whenever I saw one of those

The tyrants though.... I remember a mission in Cauldros, where you had to defeat a Tyrant as part of a mission with the guy who challenges you for Frontier Map. That one was a pain, I had to keep the suff to repair the skell on hand and practically set the other characters as bait while I killed it.
When I finally got him on the third try, I was so happy though!

That is mainly the reason why I want to try Skyrim when it releases on the Switch. I've never played it, but after XCX I was left craving more exploration in giant worlds. Zelda's is going to fix that in March, though.
Honestly I'd rather have them to into even more hardcore sci-fi settings and get my fix of fantasy by doing another Baten Kaitos but I guess I'll take it. I still wish for another BK entry somewhere down the line because it's the only RPG that I replayed more than three times.
Heck, even a port of BK Origins would be awesome on the switch.
Anyway, back to XC2, it gives me Skies of Arcadia vibes. I hope that there's an airship to pilot around whatever crazy world they come up with.
Kinda frustrating how the narrative has been twisted from "fans interest was piqued" into "tons of people hate the art style and it's generic JRPG schlock".
Hell hath no fury like an ex-fan.

I'm baffled by that. Like, Xenoblade's characters were 3d anime-y character models you'd see in a 3D JRPG. Like, maybe they relied less on the typical kinda cel shaded thing Tales of games use and none of the characters were under 18 (with one major exception in X), but otherwise, it's still JRPG anime stuff as much as anything.
I love the new art style. Character models were always the Xenoblade series' graphical weak point, and with the more stylized look, they stand out more.

The original Xenoblade X trailer was one of the best "sell me on this game" trailers ever.
This was not REMOTELY as good. That's entirely true.
I think that's actually completely intentional; the first trailer for X raised a ton of hype... which ended up backfiring on them.
No?
I mean, yeah, it wasn't as beloved as the original but I still usually see really high praise for it. And to be fair, the best trailer was before it revealed any story so...that says something alright.
I'm glad to see their new project is coming so soon. Retro and Monolith and Tokyo EAD are always studios with hype releases

I'm guessing this is a sequel to the original rather than X?
Hard to say. Could be. then again they could be doing what the Final Fantasy games do and make entirely different world, but share some of its lore and style of its previous games. And I'm thinking they are going the FF route.
Found a nice analysis vid of the trailer:
Basically one-up's Gamexplain's vid in every single regard. Also has a second video for the artwork. No talking, just text at the bottom of the screen and music.
