Topic: Xenoblade Chronicles 2

So I guess judging by the Blade List there's 2 Blades left to be announced, 1 expansion pass Blade and 1 free Blade.

We just need Xenogears representation in some way. I'd like Fei, Elly, or Xenogears itself in some form. We've already got Poppi QTpi a skill literally called Nanomachine Repair, a reference to Emeralda (and Poppi is pretty much just Emeralda, just like how Jin is like Krelian), but I'd like a bit more than that.

Does Square still own Xenogears or is it more like Rare's contribution to the DK franchise?

I don't really think anything but bug fixes will come after the Torna DLC launches but it would be cool to see more.

I need the Xenogears and Xenosaga games on Switch before I can get hyped for cameos.

@Grumblevolcano @ReaderRagfish Square owns Xenogears. In fact, Xenogears appeared as a boss in World of Final Fantasy, simply called XG.

Namco owns Xenosaga, but considering Namco likes Nintendo platforms I'm really gunning for a Xenosaga HD collection one day.

So it seems pretty much no direct Xenogears representation because Square owns it (Square's very stingy on licensing, see Midgar only having 2 songs in Smash 4 and Smash Ultimate for example), Xenosaga representation was possible thanks to Namco being on good terms with Nintendo and of course previous Xenoblade games are easy on the licensing side.

I'm glad I finished the DK DLC for Mario + Rabbids yesterday, back to Xenoblade 2 when the update hits later today.

Anyone have a strategy for the Elma: Redux challenge? That's how you unlock her for outside use, for those who don't know.

@jtmnm Control Rex with Mythra, a Dark Blade (T-elos is my go-to), and Fiora. Slap an Avant-Garde Medal, Overclocking Bangle, and a damage-boosting accessory. Make sure you have Tora and Poppi ­­­QTpi for Break. You can have Nia as your dedicated healer, but I ran Zeke for extra damage.

Build Specials with Mythra by spamming Rolling Smash, then swap to T-elos to apply a Dark combo. After that, kill the decoys and just whittle down their HP with Specials and Driver Arts. Once 1-2 decoys are dead, swap to Fiora and just spam Screw Edge until they all die.

Do NOT override the Dark seal, else Elma will just spawn more decoys.

Once you have a full Party Gauge, just spam Chain Attacks until Elma dies. Break the orb, throw on another Dark orb, then Chain Attack again. Rinse and repeat.

I don't know about Bringer of Chaos difficulty though. I'll have to get back on you for that later...

@EvilLucario Thank you for the reply, though I'm confused! How is your party gauge not locked during battle? What you're describing sounds like the first battle. Is there a way to counteract the party gauge lock?

@jtmnm The reinforcements (Ghost Elma) are the cause of the lock, defeat them and you remove the lock.

What I did to beat her the second time was use the custom difficulty maximizing player benefits and minimizing enemy benefits leading to repeatedly using light combos with Mythra being an easy way to win. It's a cheap method but someday I plan to beat it normally.

@Grumblevolcano Got it! Thanks for clarifying that. I guess I managed to beat Elma the first time around without her using Ghost Factory. Wasn't aware that's what locks the party gauge! I may have to do what you did, too.

EvilLucario's advice really came in handy. I'll re-post it for any other potential challengers.

This provides an excellent foundation for anyone struggling with the challenge. As EvilLucario suggests, definitely use a dark seal as soon as possible, and then focus on the ghosts. I found Nia's Blade form (Still worth keeping secret?) to be more helpful here because of the passive health regen and healing art. Spamming Sword Bash from behind also proved to be useful while Tora and Morag tanked everything.

I just saw the game now has Elma? AND Shulk? I saw shop with all three of them standing together. I've been totally out of the loop ever since I beat the game.

When the DLC drops that's going to be my excuse to go back and unlock these characters.

It's surreal, speaking—er, writing . . . as a Xeno fan since the PS1 days. I hope we'll see Fei, though it's probably unlikely due to the Xenogears license belonging to Squeenix.

I've been fiddling with Elma's Overdrive ability. It's almost as if they copied and pasted it directly from XCX. Not only is it crazy good, but it's just nice to see. This is the best DLC support I think I've ever seen.
