Topic: Where are Metal gear solid 2 & 3 plus the latest two Borderlands games?

Mrwhiteisbad

Hi all. Before I switched to the Switch I had the Nvidea shield tv, where they where all playable, so why not bring them to the Switch. Both consols are using the same chip? I tried writing gearbox, both no answer.

It would be glorious if Konami could bring a Metal Gear and/or Zone of the Enders HD collection to Switch. (I'm hoping Hamster will sort out their arcade classics...)

@Mrwhiteisbad I'd be very down for ports of the Borderlands games on Switch. But you'd have to talk to the devs. This is just a fan site. lol

It all depends on if Konami and/or Take Two want those games on Switch.

So far, nothing has been mentioned.

@Mrwhiteisbad They are on PS4 and Xbox One

Seriously though I wouldn't count on Borderlands one on the Switch, hell they haven't brought Broderlands one to PS4 or Xbox One

Also, Knights of The Old Republic 1 and 2 would be a must buy if it came to the Swithoro.

@Agriculture That's not going to happen as long as Disney owns the Star Wars IP. They refuse to acknowledge anything before they bought the IP except for the original movies and prequels.

Demonstrably false, otherwise there wouldn't be continued re-releases and new collection-releases of "Legends" branded EU novels and comics, which they have been regularly doing. Nor would there be a new season of Clone Wars, which is coming as well, or introduction of classic-EU elements into current stuffs (e.g., Thrawn in Rebels and new novels, dozens of classic-EU references in Solo, etc.).

But perhaps true when it comes to games, but i suspect that has more to do with the misguided EA-exclusivity (or quasi-exclusivity) they have, which is ... ugh.

Though i do agree we'll never see KoTOR games (or other older SW games) on Switch — but then again, i doubt we'll ever see them on any other consoles either.

Yay for Steam.

The only console you can get that game for is Xbox One. I don't think it's worth it to get an Xbox One for just Kotor and Cuphead, which are the only two exclusives I care about. I've never been a pc gamer, short of a handful of games, but getting a pc is worth contemplating.

Would love any and all Metal Gear Solid on Switch. I have 3 and 5 and Rising and would love to play some more set in this unique world. Surprised somewhat Nintendo didn't try to contract Kojima the moment things went bad at Konami. In fact I'm surprised they didn't try to buy out Konamis gaming division.

@bluemage1989 would kojima have fit in well with Nintendo? It’s not an obvious pairing. His vision of games as a special type of experimental interactive cinema is very different to the way that Nintendo see the industry.

As for buying the gaming division of Konami - I expect that it might be considered hugely insulting even to broach such an offer. Even worse what do you actually get? Legacy IP certainly (but Nintendo doesn’t exactly lack for this and deals can be with Konami if Nintendo so desires - as they have for some Hudson properties) and some dev teams that aren’t what they once were. Potentially it could be very expensive for very little.

Not making a move on Atlus when they were available though is a bit harder to understand. Atlus games typically do come to Nintendo platforms but taking them (& the crown jewel of PSP & Vita: Persona) officially exclusive forever would have been a feather in the cap.

@StuTwo I think its because Kojima is so different in his vision that would have made him a success at Nintendo. It gives the Nintendo portfolio that variety it needs. I'm not saying Kojimas should have made the next Mario (I mean that would be ridiculous and hilarious) but making the games he would want to make for Nintendo with there backing would have been cool anyway he's working with Sony now so none of that matters as much as Nintendo finding that next generation of developer. Games like Splatoon show they have the next generation coming through but Nintendo need to ensure there future developers have that variety in approaches.

On a similar subject I think Mike Bithell would be a great talent to recruit to Nintendo and be allowed to see what he could do with the right budget and team behind him.

I don't know much about Japanese culture and what is and isn't insulting but I can imagine there are a lot.of execs at Konami who would love to see the gaming division sold. There are some great iconic IPs there I dont doubt Nintendo have there own either but I think with the right managment that Konami and Nintendo could work well together and help significantly until we see that next generation of developers really flourish.

I know this is a fan site:)@Heavyarms55. But was just wondering since all four games are on Shield tv and both machines uses the same chip.

Mrwhiteisbad

Mrwhiteisbad

All four games run on the Nvidea shield tv and the Switch uses the same chip, so why not just bring it over?

Mrwhiteisbad

Heavyarms55

@Mrwhiteisbad I am certain it could be done. But it would still need to be ported to work on the Switch's system. It's really up to the company with the rights to the games. There are tons of great games that could be ported to Switch. Why the companies aren't doing it - is really anyone's guess...

I feel like the Wii games on the Nvidia Shield are a test for something to come in the future with the Switch in some way. I don't know what though.

But yeah, I want Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on Switch and PC. They only got released on PS3, 360, and Vita (and only 3 came to 3DS, not 2), and them never getting a PC release at the time was just dumb.
