So at the big Switch event in January, Square Enix revealed Project Octopath Traveler. Now seven months later and we still know nothing. When do you think are we going to hear from them again? Or do we have to wait until E3 2018?
Tempting game after seeing the Direct, but I haven't had it in me to play through an RPG in years. They feel like too much of a timesink... even though that's irrational given how much time I spend on online games these days. Still, this looks nonlinear enough that I could take an easygoing approach and not worry about doing everything, which could help. I'll see what I think of the demo.
I'm genuinely curious about this game now. It seems to have some DQIV vibes with the split paths and whatnot. A bonus for me is that the team behind Bravely Default is behind it!
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
@Tyranexx The concept actually seems to be taken from Square's old SaGA series, in that you pick one character as the protagonist and go on a relatively open-ended adventure. whereas DQIV was a linear affair that switched between characters.
Dude, this game is 110% legit. The art style is amazing and I love how the camera only has the area of focus and everything else blurs and as you move around the blurred area fades in the focus. They have a battle system that is clearly inspired by Bravely Default, but better imo. The BP, instead of saving turns by not attacking, simply builds up by one point each turn and you can stack up to 4 points. Can you use our to toggle how many BP you want to use to magnify your attack. The first time (for x2) The screen flashes red and then has this reddish tint afterward, then for x3 it flashes yellow, the for x4 it flashes blue. It is really visually appealing. The combat is fun and engaging and kind of reminds me of Xenoblade in a way. And Fire Emblem. Certain enemies are weak to certain weapons and if you hit their weakness you will "BREAK" them and send them into a daze with stars around their head. You also have SP for special abilities and attacks...
This game is SO freaking legit. I love it! Man, let's go...
All have sinned and fall short of Gods glory. Wages of sin is death. Romans
God so loved the world He sent His only Son- whoever believes on Him has eternal life. Unless you believe, you will die in your sins. Whoever believes, rivers of living water flow within them. John
@JaxonH Your little mini review has now gotten me interested way more than I was! When I get home later today, I'll be trying the demo out first thing!
Never take anything I say seriously. S'all you buddy. ;)
