I'm amazed at all the great retro games that are piling up for the Switch. Everything from obscure Japanese arcade shmups to Sega's latest Virtual Racing release. At yet the one company that doesn't want to get involved in this business is Nintendo itself. Grrrrrrr.
The Wii U is still the world's best console. Buy one today!
I agree. NSO hasn't done anything to improve it's retro offerings and I don't think it ever will at this point. I mean, imagine how much dough Nintendo would be making if they had released Virtual Console on Switch. Yet instead we get a lazy excuse of a service. Ugh.
Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault
I try and stay optimistic that one of hear days they will unveil a nice overhaul for the service. It’s still under a year old. But on the other hand they had so long to work on it before it came out. Time will tell.
The Virtual Console was one of my biggest wants. And NSO has hardly filled that void. I do like NES games but they are somewhat before my time. I only really have nostalgia for the ones I play with my father and older cousins. Where I have the most nostalgia are Game Boy, GBA, N64 and Gamecube titles. I can go back and play them on Wii U or even the originals, most of which I still own... but after having VC on 3DS, Wii and Wii U, I really expected it on Switch and it is different and in my opinion, much better to have the games on Switch than any of those previous platforms because of the design of the Switch.
Overall I adore my Switch and have an ever growing backlog of games on it. But the absence of VC (and voice chat and wireless headphone support) is what keeps the Switch from being perfect in my eyes. It's like a 9.5 out of 10 for me, when it could have been a perfect 10, something I've never considered any console to be before.
