@Anti-Matter Wow! You've got hundreds of hours of gaming there. Not interested in Splatoon 2, or is it just lower on the list?
@Octane I've got around 118 in mine, but that's not including, like, half of my Steam library (or IGC licenses from PS+). A lot of those are games that came in bundles that I don't really care about, though.
I've solved two of my three big problems that caused the backlog to balloon in the first place, though.
1) Buying new games before I finish old ones (I won't be doing that anymore)
2) Buying games in insane Steam/PS+ sales (I'm done; no point buying stuff if I never get to it, so I only buy games on sale if I'm going to play them to completion right away)
3) Playing 100+ hour games over the dozens of 10 - 20 hour experiences in my collection (honestly, I could have sliced through 1/3 or so of my backlog in the time it took me to finish Persona 5 and Breath of the Wild, but... whatever, those games made my year, so no regrets)
Only game I got was Need for Speed Payback on the ps4. Got my kids got a second Switch and an Snes classic, so fun watching them go thru those old games and get frustrated just like I did at thier age lol!
Edit: forgot I also got $40 eshop credit and used it to buy Minecraft on the Switch
@Ralizah
Eh, sorry.
Not a fan of Shooting games, even Colorful Cartoonish Shooting games Splatoon.
But i'm loking for friends (Online Play) in ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
@Anti-Matter add me, I play Mario kart online. I also play splatoon 2 and brawlout for anyone else looking to add people to play multiplayer. My Nintendo account/network ID is AgentQ723, but my nickname is Baa (not sure which will show up). My friend code should be in my signature.
@Ralizah Mine's about the same. I don't buy bundles and I don't get reckless with Steam discounts. So it's mostly console games, and a bunch of handheld games. Although, to be fair, I erased the save data of all my games five or six years ago, because I thought it was a good idea to play through all of my games again. Spoiler: It wasn't. So I count all of those towards unfinished as well. I'm keeping a list, and I cross the games off once I get to the end credits. I still need to 'finish' Pikmin on the GameCube for example, even though I finished that game plenty of times, and the Wii version is my go-to version because of the pointer controls. I have no reason to back to the GameCube game. I shall see how much of it I truly want to play again.
I moved a handful of times in the last two years, so most of my stuff is packed in boxes.. somewhere. But I plan to stay where I currently live, and once I've got everything set up and running, I'd like to work on my backlog when possible. I guess it's my new year's resolution!
For a good while I wanted to 100% complete every single game I had, but that just doesn't work for me anymore. I simply don't have the time like I used to. I've got some bad (going by reviews) games in my backlog I want to give a fair chance, but if I don't like 'em, I'll put them back on the shelf for good. I'm not going to force myself to finish everything anymore.
Seriously, that's it! I'd rather people not buy me games than getting me a game I ask for then end up not playing it, or it turning out to be a steaming turd. If I get money or gift cards I can make my own choices about what to buy, which is what I'll be doing in the sales.
Let's see, picked up mummy demastered, mighty gunvolt burst, double dragon 4 and the nights of azure 2 side story DLC for the switch and with the cash I got I'll probably get one physical copy game (probably fire emblem warriors)
I like switching, when I'm stuck on Zelda I switch to ARMS to relieve my frustration, and I like the 2-3 min matches as it is almost a light break. Steamworld for a quick bash at old school metroidvania.
Splatton is on the list as well as Mario and Rabbids, possibly Nights of Azure as I fancy some Japanese quirkiness
Haven't got my hands on anything new yet (all yet to be delivered/downloaded), and it was all bought for myself rather than gifted to me, but the highlights would be an impulsive Splatoon 2 buy, Rise of the Tomb Raider (PS4 art book edition), and a PS Vita with Gravity Rush and Tearaway.
Rayman Legends and Lego City Undercover before Christmas. Usually get cash for Christmas so it helps my spending before and after the holidays. Just waiting patiently for EB Games in Canada to get Bayonetta 1 and 2 pre order up or i might be getting it through Amazon. Tempted to get Axiom Verge been holding off on a sale it's 20 percent off right now but then i look at my PS4 and see it for 9.99 vs 20 plus taxes tough to justify the purchase might go with Retro Rampage for 9.99 plus taxes
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe from my brother, which was a genuine surprise. Also got a couple gift cards, which I'll probably use to pick up some accessories I've been wanting.
If it counts, my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 arrived during the weekend, and I've been playing the heck out of it.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Didn't get any Nintendo games this Christmas, but I did get a PS4 Slim. I used an old gift card to buy Watch Dogs, Knack, and The Last Guardian. All three should be here by the weekend.
My sister and I split the cost on a New 2DS XL as an early Christmas present to ourselves a couple weeks ago (my old 3DS stopped working).
Yesterday received an Xbox Live gift card that I used to get Ghost Recon Wildlands and today used a Best Buy card from my sister to get Metroid: Samus Returns. Been wanting both games for a while.
I ended up getting quite a few this year. No one knew what to get me so I ended up getting a game or two from each person buying me a gift.
I hope it doesn't come across as "spoiled", but keep in mind for everyone buying me a gift I also got something for them of about equal value, so it was an expensive Christmas all around.
